It is the duo formed by <strong><em>Timothy Lewis<\/em><\/strong> (aka <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thighpaulsandra.co.uk\/\">Thighpaulsandra<\/a><\/strong>)<\/em> and <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuism.net\/massimo\/\">Massimo Pupillo<\/a><\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><br \/><strong><em>Lewis<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>may be known for his work with <em>Coil <\/em>on <em>Musick To Play In The Dark; <\/em>he also joined <em>Spiritualized<\/em> on their US tour. <strong><em>Pupillo<\/em><\/strong> is a bass player who collaborated with <em>D\u00e4lek<\/em> and recently with This Immortal Coil, as well as being a long-term member of the Italian jazzcore trio <em>Zu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Great Central Sun<\/em><\/strong> presents two long (20+ minute) tracks with overwhelmingly cinematic ambient that \u2013 indeed \u2013 can be described as \u2018music to play in the dark\u2019. The first track, <em>Per speculum in aenigmates<\/em> (\u2018through a mirror, in a riddle\u2019), opens relatively quiet, but the second, <em>Radiating Rainbows, <\/em>builds up to a tense climax. <\/p>\n<p>Clearly, this is not intended as \u2018ignorable\u2019 background ambient! As a musician, he asks the same question but from a different perspective. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>At Rahoy, The Early Light<\/em><\/strong> is his first solo album and presents two (17+ minute) soundscapes. The first is based on a journey through Japan and was recorded live on a modular synth directly after returning. The second piece, From Up Here The Icebergs Look Like Dust, presents a <em>\u2018backdrop of drones using a mathematically perfect but slightly uncanny just intonation tuning scheme\u2019<\/em>, layered with baritone and trumpet performed by <em><strong>Andrew Ostler<\/strong><\/em>. Field recordings (from Japan) and <em>\u2018recordings of crinkling baking paper pitched down two octaves to create the sound of melting icebergs\u2019<\/em> complete the mental image of the sonic journey.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>At Rahoy, The Early Light <\/em><\/strong>is released on <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.expert-sleepers.co.uk\/\">Expert Sleepers<\/a><\/em>, a label from the music company to showcase artists using their products.
