Shining the light on a
\nKIND KID today!<\/span><\/p>\n

Meet Jay.\u00a0 <\/span>Jay and his family live in our community, and
\nrecently his mom Brandi posted some photos of a MAJOR KIND ACT<\/i> that he
\ndid.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Before…<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Jay shaved off his hair
\nand donated it so that a child with cancer could get a wig!!<\/span><\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t that awesome??\u00a0 <\/span>I thought it was so cool that I wanted to
\nmake sure his story got told \u2013 so here it is!<\/span><\/p>\n

Jay is 10 years old.\u00a0 <\/span>Every time I have ever seen him, he has had
\nlong hair.\u00a0 <\/span>I mean, I think long hair was
\nkind of his thing.\u00a0 <\/span>So WHY would he
\ndecide to cut it all off and donate it???\u00a0
\n<\/span>I asked him that question, and the answer made sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was inspired by his
\ndad, who donated his<\/u> hair a while back.\u00a0
\n<\/span>But to me, an adult<\/b> making this bold, kind move and a kid<\/u><\/b>
\ngoing for it are 2 completely different things.\u00a0
\n<\/span>Both are kind, of course, but a kid <\/i>doing it is SUPER KIND<\/u>,
\nright??<\/span><\/p>\n

I asked Jay how long he
\nhad been growing his hair out.\u00a0 <\/span>He got a
\nbig grin and said, \u201c5 years.\u00a0 <\/span>Half my
\nlife!!!\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

You read that right.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Jay had been growing his hair for <\/span>half his
\nlife<\/i>, and he was kind enough to cut it all off so that another kid could
\nget a nice wig.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>He told me his hair was
\n12\u201d \u2013 13\u201d, and before it was cut off the stylist put it in a bunch of little
\npony tails. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>And then \u2013 buzzzzz \u2013 the ponies
\nwere cut off with a razor, and Jay left with a fuzzy buzz cut.<\/span><\/p>\n

Look at all of that hair!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Jay and I talked about some
\nof the reasons kids might need wigs, and how special it is to get one made of
\nreal hair.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWhy did you want to donate
\nit?\u201d I asked. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWell, I felt bad for
\npeople who don\u2019t get to have hair.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I just
\nwanted to be kind, cuz I thought somebody might use it.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I didn\u2019t need all that hair!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And my hair grows back, some people\u2019s might
\nnot,\u201d he said.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cAnd how did it feel
\nafter it was shaved off??\u201d I asked as a logical follow-up.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cIt feels way lighter!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And I\u2019m less hot!\u201d he said with a grin.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

After!!!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

And lest you think this
\nwas a \u201cone and done\u201d, Jay has a plan.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>He
\nis going to donate his hair every 2 years!<\/span>\u00a0
\n<\/span>You read that right, his idea is, \u201c2 years short, 2 years grow, donate,\u201d
\nand repeat.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Isn\u2019t that awesome?<\/span><\/p>\n

We chatted about being
\nkind in general, and how fun that is. \u00a0<\/span>I know
\nJay to be a super kind human and have been lucky enough to witness other kind
\nstuff he has done. He told me that sometimes he actively thinks about being
\nkind, and sometimes it \u201cjust happens\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In closing, Jay had some
\ngreat words of advice: \u201cIf you read this story, then just try and be kind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
