By leveraging the expertise and innovative service approaches of accomplished professionals like Sonjia and Tiffany, Perkins can continue to provide comprehensive solutions to people and organizations in a diverse array of industries.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Sonjia Barker joined Perkins in 2022, bringing a robust background in tax and auditing from her tenure as the lead auditor for the Washington Department of Revenue and a managing director at a national firm. As the leader of Perkins\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/perkinsaccounting.com\/services\/state-local-tax\/\">State and Local Tax (SALT)<\/a> practice, Sonjia breaks down intricate tax issues and develops clear, actionable strategies for clients in the ever-evolving tax landscape. Her profound understanding of multistate tax compliance and a pragmatic approach to planning strategies make her an invaluable asset to the Perkins team and the clients she serves. Beyond her day-to-day client work, Sonjia is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (WSCPA), the Association of Washington Business Tax &amp; Fiscal Policy, and the institute for Professionals in Taxation. Additionally, she serves on the OSCPA\u2019s Taxation Strategic Committee and is the Chair of the WSCPA\u2019s Washington Tax Conference.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Tiffany Mellow started her journey at Perkins in 2017 and has since transformed the firm\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/perkinsaccounting.com\/services\/business-valuation\/\">Business Valuation (BV)<\/a> practice and broadened its industry reach, ensuring clients receive tailored valuation and advisory services. With extensive expertise in business valuations, tax advisory, and <a href=\"https:\/\/perkinsaccounting.com\/services\/litigation-support\/\">litigation support<\/a> strategies, Tiffany plays a critical role in guiding clients through intricate financial procedures such as buy-sell transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning. Tiffany\u2019s contributions to her field have not gone unnoticed; in 2022, she received the <a href=\"https:\/\/perkinsaccounting.com\/blog\/tiffany-mellow-aicpa-2022-standing-ovation-honor\/\">AICPA\u2019s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Standing Ovation award<\/a> and was one of only nine recipients to be honored at the AICPA\u2019s 2022 FVS Conference. Tiffany is an active member of the AICPA, the OSCPA, and Oregon Community Programs. She is also a board member and Budget &amp; Finance Committee member for Food for Lane County.
