Last month, 2 Towns Ciderhouse launched two new flavors to join its award-winning <\/span>Cosmic Crisp\u00ae. The new flavors, Tropical Cosmic Crisp<\/span>\u00ae<\/span> and Blueberry Cosmic Crisp<\/span>\u00ae<\/span>, like original Cosmic Crisp<\/span>\u00ae<\/span> are imperial ciders and weigh in at 8.0% ABV.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

2 Towns sent me a few samples of their latest creations. My wife is a big fan of cider, so she joined me in <\/span><\/span>tasting these as well.  Here are a few of our thoughts…<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

First up was <\/span><\/span>Blueberry Cosmic Crisp\u00ae.  In general, we’ve always found that blueberry is a difficult fruit to use in beer and cider. It has a delicate flavor that tends to get lost within the drink. This is not the case with this <\/span><\/span><\/span>cider. The blueberry flavor is prominent in aroma, as well as in taste. It’s nicely tart, and finishes with a touch of sweetness. Very well done!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next up is Tropical Cosmic Crisp\u00ae, which melds purple passion fruit and hibiscus flowers into the mix. Passionfruit tastes great in beer, but neither of us recalled tasting it in a cider. The juicy tropical fruit flavor comes through nicely. It’s also tart and finishes with a light touch of alcohol heat. As we enter the warmer seasons, both of these new ciders would be ideal thirst quenchers on hot sunny days!

Coincidentally, while I was at my local Costco the other day, I noticed they stocked mixed cases of 18 cans of <\/span>Cosmic Crisp\u00ae Dynamic Duo (each containing 9 of the two new flavors).  For more details, check out the news release below.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hitting earthling stores in early February, Tropical Cosmic Crisp\u00ae and Blueberry Cosmic Crisp\u00ae join the original Cosmic Crisp\u00ae (launched in 2021)  to round out  the Cosmic Explorer Series\u2013the new,  high ABV,  imperial cider line from 2 Towns.<\/span><\/p>\n

All three high gravity ciders (Tropical Cosmic Crisp\u00ae, Blueberry Cosmic Crisp\u00ae, and the original Cosmic Crisp\u00ae) are crafted with Cosmic Crisp\u00ae apples and designed to transport you straight across the galaxy.  Tropical Cosmic Crisp\u00ae embodies purple passion fruit, hibiscus flowers, and Comic Crisp\u00ae apples and will have you  getting pitted on some epic solar flares! On a nearby planet, Blueberry Cosmic Crisp\u00ae hits the flavor notes of Northwest blueberries jammin’ with Cosmic Crisp\u00ae apples, creating the ultimate space-age cider.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cosmic Crisp\u00ae apple is the work of 20 years of study and research by Washington State University<\/span>, resulting in a classically bred hybrid of Enterprise and Honeycrisp apples. The resulting fruit is a large, round, crisp, and super juicy apple that is perfect for snacking, baking, and clearly, cider making. Large, round, crisp and super juicy, these bi-color apples have a rich red that almost sparkles with starburst-like lenticels\u2014which is where the name “Cosmic” comes from.<\/span><\/p>\n
