Video footage showed the A220-300 making a low-pass landing in Riga.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A sight we\u2019ll never forget! Our 50th <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Airbus?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">@Airbus<\/a> A220-300 touched down in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/riga_airport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">@riga_airport<\/a> with a stunning low-pass, and we couldn\u2019t be prouder. Moments like these define our journey \u2708\ufe0f Sveicam m\u0101j\u0101s Latvij\u0101! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c375T3LPgc\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">pic.twitter.com\/c375T3LPgc<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 airBaltic (@airBaltic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/airBaltic\/status\/1890106995463844298?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">February 13, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEight years ago, we became the global launch operator of the Airbus A220-300 \u2013 an aircraft that has transformed our operations,\u201d said Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic. \u201cAs we welcome our 50th Airbus A220-300, it marks a major milestone, completing our initial order and bringing us halfway toward our goal of a single-type fleet of 100 aircraft by 2030.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>This 50th aircraft showcases a bespoke artistic livery inspired by the Latvian flag, featuring unique design elements that represent all three Baltic States: Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The artwork shows a young woman flying through the clouds, her long hair decorated with a traditional wreath as she carries the Latvian flag. The design also includes several symbolic elements reflecting the heritage of the Baltic region, including a ladybug, a swallow and a stork.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the airline, the painting of this A220-300 livery took 18 days to complete. A total of 21 colors were used to create the design, and for the first time ever, a stencil overlay technique was used to layer colors by the Airbus A220 paintshop teams in Mirabel, Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>\u201cThis aircraft, with its striking Baltic-themed livery, symbolizes our region\u2019s ambition, connectivity, and the strength of our national carrier,\u201d Kaspars Bri\u0161kens, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Latvia, added.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new A220-300 is set to join the airBaltic fleet later in February 2025. The airline stated that the A220 is the \u201clatest state-of-the-art and most modern airliner in its size category\u201d.
