It just <i>churns <\/i>trends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One such trends is so-called\u00a0\u5730\u96f7\u7cfb (<i><a href=\"https:\/\/j-fashion.fandom.com\/wiki\/Jirai_Kei\" target=\"_blank\">jirai-kei<\/a>), <\/i>literally &#8220;landmine fashion&#8221;. From an aesthetics point of view, it&#8217;s really nothing more than a minor spin on that McGoth we used to associate with places such as Hot Topic a few years (or was it decades?) ago, plus a smattering of color, usually pink, here and there. Been there, done that, really nothing to write home about. The entire novelty of the style lays in the controversy that gives it its name: from what I gather, this style is associated with &#8220;landmine girls&#8221;, aka girls that prop a cutesy goth exterior with involvement in drugs, alcohol, street partying, the rich kids gangs lifestyle etc etc. I mean, would you willingly step on a landmine, or date a &#8220;landmine girl&#8221;?<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEhORxu_Xw2HEtUVql3qD9BX-RWQjh0xy6JYyCGNoysH6qlA2tLquIRgvF3uf6NzOTmJrKS05rCsZ-93CSepVppLGkJQayNL_CAUaQ0fd61ijiGdMaJyxLm2M9bWLcVI0gYD0122c-ql09WZYFmiTaeRtmlKp_3gar3bQp-0bTklB5LZrJbfVxDhyTzUjDpF\/s4128\/20240815_143343.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"4128\" data-original-width=\"3096\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEhORxu_Xw2HEtUVql3qD9BX-RWQjh0xy6JYyCGNoysH6qlA2tLquIRgvF3uf6NzOTmJrKS05rCsZ-93CSepVppLGkJQayNL_CAUaQ0fd61ijiGdMaJyxLm2M9bWLcVI0gYD0122c-ql09WZYFmiTaeRtmlKp_3gar3bQp-0bTklB5LZrJbfVxDhyTzUjDpF\/s320\/20240815_143343.jpg\" width=\"240\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>This lengthy tangent comes about because it&#8217;s essential in order to understand the joke behind the series of\u00a0 d\u014djinshi <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/onnoveltet\" target=\"_blank\">tetto<\/a>\u00a0dedicated to their very own landmine character &#8211; one such publication being 2022&#8217;s\u00a0 &#8220;\u898b\u305f\u76ee\u5730\u96f7\u7cfb\u5e7c\u99b4\u67d3&#8221; (<i>Landmine girl childhood friend). <\/i>Offering their own admittedly slightly ham-fisted twist on the stereotype, this\u00a0d\u014djinshi (full color, 24 pages, stapled) shows, in a series of full-page pinups, the daily life of a landmine girl that does everything a landmine girl is <i>not <\/i>supposed to do: cook a healthy meal, help the aged, dote over cute animals, give her bus seat to a pregnant woman, etc etc. She is occasionally accompanied by a nonplussed, more stereotypical landmine friend; and occasionally addresses an invisible, arguably male friend, visual novel style.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEiJLDQpsb5WZ7YDNW4vsW3pgJNEy52CN94YGCJky6lQ1NrNA5vplJqHgGbQTPt1yvUqZltDRFstq3LJZxIuIFAZizn8mxyTHM1bYlT7LHyaD3MlWEQxqzCd8o7erxCwlEDz3FbMJfw3z3eLUYpCc-dAhLhPABhhUAQ5OGGHIsGrpta0gk5UVX8DU2fxTf_X\/s4128\/20240815_143428.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"4128\" data-original-width=\"3096\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/b\/R29vZ2xl\/AVvXsEiJLDQpsb5WZ7YDNW4vsW3pgJNEy52CN94YGCJky6lQ1NrNA5vplJqHgGbQTPt1yvUqZltDRFstq3LJZxIuIFAZizn8mxyTHM1bYlT7LHyaD3MlWEQxqzCd8o7erxCwlEDz3FbMJfw3z3eLUYpCc-dAhLhPABhhUAQ5OGGHIsGrpta0gk5UVX8DU2fxTf_X\/s320\/20240815_143428.jpg\" width=\"240\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Yup, this is the entirety of the skit. No complaints from me, as the very light subversion of the stereotype is fairly amusing, and tetto&#8217;s tract is cutesy enough, while firmly rooted in an anime aesthetics.
