They announced in July that they were working on this, but there\u2019s no public launch date yet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The industry is buzzing because this could be a really big deal for marketing, Google, search engine optimization, and search in general. When thinking of SearchGPT vs. a traditional search engine\u2026\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019ll understand more context and natural language\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019ll provide helpful, summarized results from multiple reputable sources\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can get information without having to click to other websites\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019ll hang on to your context and keep pushing to get you a deeper answer\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"position: relative;width: 100%;height: 0;padding-top: 333.3333%;padding-bottom: 0;margin-top: 1.6em;margin-bottom: 0.9em;overflow: hidden;border-radius: 8px\">\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/design\/DAGQY8V4c3I\/E5kx2w076NT5Pnj6S__oGQ\/view?utm_content=DAGQY8V4c3I&amp;utm_campaign=designshare&amp;utm_medium=embeds&amp;utm_source=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Vs. SearchGPT (Infographic)<\/a> by volume9<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you haven\u2019t tried Perplexity, I strongly recommend you do. It\u2019ll help you grasp what SearchGPT is trying to do pretty darn fast (and side note, I LOVE Perplexity).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How Is This Different From AI Overviews?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When we think about how AI has gone into search, let\u2019s kind of go back a bit. ChatGPT launched, Microsoft partnered with Bing, and Google panicked, starting work on getting AI into search.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Google spent a year developing Search Generated Experience (SGE) and brought AI overviews into search. But. arguable, it\u2019s been a<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/google-ai-overview-search-issues\/#:~:text=Liz%20Reid%2C%20Google&#039;s%20head%20of,of%20its%20errors%20went%20viral.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> bit of a flop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Meanwhile, Bing hasn\u2019t picked up much market share despite having a strategic partnership with Open AI &amp; ChatGPT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why AI and Search Haven\u2019t Worked (Yet)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The challenge with AI in search is that search engines have always worked on a model where someone searches a keyword, and the engine provides listings. Google is likely always going to have that stronghold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2026But when you try to add AI into that, it gets tricky. Google\u2019s business model is based on keywords and running ads alongside the listings. If they can\u2019t run those ads they likely aren\u2019t going to explore it as an option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How Is This Different than AI Overviews?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">AI Search Engines don\u2019t seem to have this ad-based challenge. You can search something like \u201cI need a chart with all the planets\u2019 distances from the Sun.\u201d Instead of hoping one website has all that or relying on AI like Google\u2019s Gemini, Perplexity scans relevant websites and filters the results for you. It gives you relevant, sourced results without ads &amp; without having to click to additional websites, which is awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So the big differences:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clearer sources and direct links to make verifying data easier\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Allows you to ask follow-ups and to dial in the response more\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Will provide a detailed answer from a lot of sources, and include images in addition to text\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More cooperative with publishers (like news sites) and will give them more ways to control how they appear in SearchGPT\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>The Big Shift<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>SearchGPT<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> wants to build a search engine based on how people actually want information, not one that\u2019s limited by ads or keywords. That\u2019s why <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/tylerroush\/2024\/07\/25\/openai-announces-ai-powered-search-engine-that-could-challenge-google-and-alphabets-stock-drops-3-heres-what-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alphabet\u2019s stock dropped<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the day after they announced it\u2014people think this could chip away at Google\u2019s market share.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How Should You Adjust Your Marketing Strategies?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are definitely strategies to get optimized for tools like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.perplexity.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Perplexity<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> now, which will likely help you with <\/span>SearchGPT<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> later.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The key is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Organized, well-written conten<\/span><b>t<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with depth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unique content that gives a perspective others don\u2019t<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use things like<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">schema markup and clear headings to make it easy for crawlers to understand your content<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keeping your content fresh and up-to-date is also really important, as SearchGPT is likely going to favor current information.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Future of SEO<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the bigger picture, I believe we\u2019re seeing a fracturing of the traditional search engine market. People will always have problems and questions, and they\u2019ll turn to the Internet for solutions. But how they search is changing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019re seeing users start their searches in marketplaces like Amazon or Walmart, or on social platforms like TikTok and forums like Reddit. This means search engine optimization isn\u2019t just about Google anymore.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How Do you Optimize For the Future?\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As you build your SEO strategy, think about:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Who is your core audience?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What questions are you answering?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What problems are you solving?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Where are your customers going to get that information?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s not just about Google SERPS anymore.
