Christina Vantzou.<\/em> A man of duo\u2019s, it seems, now presents a solo album under his own name.<\/p>\nEleven Fugues For Sodium Pentothal<\/em> <\/strong>is not his first solo album \u2013 Adam Wiltzie<\/em><\/strong> composed quite some movie scores, Salero<\/em> (2016) and American Woman <\/em>(2019) among those. But it is the first solo album under his own name n\u00f3t related to a movie. It unequivocally demonstrates his experience and demonstrates why all of the projects he participates in end up in so many \u2018best of\u2019 lists in ambient music. <\/p>\nThere\u2019s this signature combination of electronics and acoustic orchestration: the basic tracks were recorded in Wiltzie\u2019s<\/em><\/strong> home studio in Belgium, and strings were added in Budapest. Robert Hampson<\/em> mixed it in such a way that it is hard to distinguish one from the others, \u2018further lending the music a sense of cinematic expanse and oblique hypnosis\u2019.<\/em>
Initially, the music was inspired by \u2018a recurring dream wherein \u201cif someone listened to the music I created, then they would die.\u201d<\/em>\u2018, and the music \u2018uniquely evokes and evades the allure of oblivion, keening between beauty and ruin, forever unresolved\u2019.<\/em>
Until, after 36 minutes and 40 seconds, it ends surprisingly abruptly in the closing (Don\u2019t Go Back To) Boogerville<\/em>.<\/p>\n
