ABC News\u2019 Good Morning America narrowed the gap separating it from NBC News\u2019 Today\u2014the reigning No. 1\u2014to just 6,000 total viewers for the week of Feb. 3.<\/p>\n<p>The rubber-band nature of this ratings shift may not favor Today, which installed its new duo of <strong>Savannah Guthrie<\/strong> and <strong>Craig Melvin<\/strong> in early January. The gap between the two newscasts stretched to 42,000 total viewers the week of Jan. 27, but has now shrunk to under 10,000 total viewers.<\/p>\n<p>There was additional positive momentum for GMA as it pulled away from CBS News\u2019 CBS Mornings in the advertiser-coveted demo of Adults 25-54 viewers. The morning show stretched its lead by an additional 111,000 demo viewers after seeing it shrink to just 49,000 viewers the week prior.<\/p>\n<p>According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 2.688 million total viewers and 471,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo over the week. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/tvnewser\/week-of-january-27-2025-morning-news-ratings\/\" target=\"_blank\">Compared to the previous week<\/a>, GMA grew by +1% in the former category and +3% in the latter, making it the only morning show to register week-to-week growth in either category. Looking at its performance alongside the same week in 2024 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/tvnewser\/week-of-feb-5-morning-show-ratings-gma-remains-ahead-in-total-viewers\/\" target=\"_blank\">the week of Feb. 5<\/a>), GMA was down -6% in total viewers and -16% in the demo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Today shakily held on to the top spot in both measured categories with 2.694 million total viewers and 675,000 demo viewers. Week-to-week, it was flat in the former category and declined -4% in the latter. Year-to-year, Today was down by -2% in total viewers but up by +3% in the demo.<\/p>\n<p>CBS Mornings finished the week with 2.066 million total viewers and 380,000 A25-54 viewers for respective declines of -3% and -7% relative to the week prior.
