Croatia Airlines\u00a0will expand operations at its Zagreb Airport (ZAG) hub by commencing five new routes from the gateway for the northern summer of 2025. The new routes will see the carrier return to cities that it previously served before the COVID-19 pandemic but dropped as passenger numbers dwindled due to the global health crisis taking hold. The new destinations will include\u00a0direct, nonstop flights from Zagreb to Prague (PRG),\u00a0Bucharest (OTP),\u00a0Madrid (MAD), Milan Malpensa (MXP),\u00a0and\u00a0Hamburg (HAM). <\/p>\n

Flights to\u00a0Milan\u00a0and\u00a0Prague\u00a0will start on\u00a0June 2, 2025, with both routes operating\u00a0three times a week. Meanwhile, the new services to\u00a0Hamburg,\u00a0Bucharest, and\u00a0Madrid\u00a0will begin in\u00a0July 2025. Services to Hamburg\u00a0and\u00a0Bucharest\u00a0will launch on\u00a0July 1, 2025, while flights to Madrid will follow the following day, on\u00a0July 3, 2025. These three routes will also operate three times weekly. All flights will be operated with Croatia Airlines\u2019\u00a0Airbus A220-300<\/a>\u00a0aircraft which accommodate 149 passengers in a single class layout.<\/p>\n

Croatia Airlines<\/a>\u00a0last served\u00a0Milan,\u00a0Prague, and\u00a0Bucharest\u00a0from\u00a0Zagreb\u00a0in 2019, and had plans to resume these routes in 2020. However, the plans were shelved due to the onset of the pandemic. The airline last flew to\u00a0Hamburg\u00a0in 2012, although German carrier Eurowings\u00a0has served the route more recently. Zagreb\u00a0was linked to\u00a0Hamburg\u00a0in 2019 by\u00a0Eurowings although the route currently remains unserved. \u00a0<\/p>\n
