It\u2019s been a little while since we had a regular edition of this (the last was a rhythm game-focused special, thanks to a spate of news there in January), so a hefty chunk of material has built up for you to chew on. We try to get these out on the weekend, but in this case it will be something to start your week off with. Let\u2019s go!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center; border: 3px ridge blue;\">Arcades at MAGFest 2025<\/h3>\n<p>A few weeks back was the 2025 edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magfest.org\/\">MAGFest<\/a>, the shows dedicated to bringing video games and video game-adjacent music together in one big blowout. For a quick refresher on this one, <a href=\"https:\/\/arcadeheroes.com\/2024\/11\/08\/chef-it-up-by-monkeysplash-studios\/\">it is an original cooking simulator out of Sydney-based MonkeySplash Studios<\/a> that first turned up late last year in the States, initially out on test at a Dave &amp; Busters and then at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RBTxAeczAK8\">IAAPA<\/a>. That had its own arcade area too, as well as the official presence of Sega developers, who were there to promote the new <em>Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.<\/em> for PCs <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/arcadeposting.bsky.social\/post\/3lggrlx4ve227\">and sign some imported cabinets on the side\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center; border: 3px ridge red;\">Japan Game Updates<\/h3>\n<p>Over the past couple weeks we\u2019ve posted about a few major developments out of Japan, which alongside the reveal of <a href=\"https:\/\/arcadeheroes.com\/2025\/01\/30\/bandai-namco-to-test-new-arcade-music-game-penda-beats-in-japan\/\"><em>Missile Command Recharged<\/em><\/a> have brought a heap of traffic to the site (always nice to see) and kicked off 2025\u2019s arcade news cycle proper. But there\u2019s still been several more things going on over there, as well as one or two updates to those stories, so let\u2019s group them together here.<\/p>\n<p>The first was the location test for the new Bandai Namco rhythm game <em>Penda Beats<\/em>, news of which reached us very quickly. That test has now been over for a week, and thanks to staff unusually permitting attendees to publish photos and footage online, despite the game not being officially announced yet, there\u2019s a few good videos of the game in action out there. This one below demonstrates the gameplay in full flow, whilst prolific Japan location test documenter Game Room Ariesu has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ariesukobeya\/status\/1885652884878131413\">a clip of the tutorial<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ariesu.com\/2025\/02\/02\/%e3%83%9a%e3%83%b3%e3%83%80%e3%83%93%e3%83%bc%e3%83%84-%e3%83%ad%e3%82%b1%e3%83%86%e3%82%b9%e3%83%88%e3%83%ac%e3%83%9d%e3%83%bc%e3%83%88\/\">a detailed report on their site<\/a>.
