The truth is, it was just a matter of time before the old Alitalia logo made a comeback. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/f4QSSRn1Qn\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">pic.twitter.com\/f4QSSRn1Qn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Simone Chellini (@simone_chellini) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/simone_chellini\/status\/1888639340474933402?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">February 9, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The images come barely a week after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/articles\/ita-airways-begins-lufthansa-group-integration-to-join-star-alliance-in-2026\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\">Lufthansa Group formalized its acquisition of a 41% stake<\/a> in\u00a0the Italian carrier on February 3, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pictures, which appear to be taken inside a hangar, correspond to one of ITA Airways\u2019 Airbus A350s (registration EI-IFA), with the words \u201cInspired by Alitalia\u201d written on the side of the fuselage alongside the logo of the historical airline. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>Although technically a different company, ITA Airways has always been regarded as the successor to Alitalia in the role of Italy\u2019s flag carrier. When ITA Airways was created by the Italian government in 2021, it absorbed many of the assets and staff from bankrupted Alitalia. ITA Airways also bought the rights to the Alitalia brand and the alitalia.com domain for around \u20ac90 million, with the declared aim of preventing competitors from laying claim to the heritage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Previously, in Q4 2024, and with negotiations with Lufthansa Group still ongoing, ITA Airways announced that it expected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/articles\/ita-airways-financial-results-1h24-alitalia-brand\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\">to bring back some elements of the Alitalia brand<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While often associated with financial mismanagement, the Alitalia brand is still reportedly widely cherished by the Italian public.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pictures have emerged on social media of one of ITA Airways\u2019 new aircraft sporting a livery featuring the Alitalia brand.\u00a0 \ud83d\udd34 ITA has been more or less humbly bragging for years to be a different entity from Alitalia, a totally new startup born from zero.
