Well, here\u2019s something that might make you feel better (or worse?) \u2013 even Math Olympiad champions are now being outperformed by an AI system! It\u2019s the upgraded version of AlphaGeometry1, powered by the Gemini architecture \u2013 think of it as a math-specialized brain that\u2019s trained on countless geometry problems. While its predecessor was pretty good with a 54% success rate on IMO geometry problems (covering years 2000-2024), AG2 takes it to another level. It solves 42 out of 50 IMO geometry problems \u2013 that\u2019s an impressive 84% success rate, beating even the typical gold medalist who solves around 41 problems.<\/p>\n<p>But wait, there\u2019s more! To prove it wasn\u2019t just luck, the team threw 30 extremely challenging geometry problems at AG2 \u2013 problems so tough that expert mathematicians nominated them but deemed them too difficult for actual IMO use.
