Admired for their intricate scrollwork, gilded accents, and sculptural presence, his works continue to inspire both collectors and interior designers.

The Art of Wrought Iron

Poillerat’s journey into the world of decorative ironwork began with his training at the prestigious École Boulle in Paris. There, he developed a deep appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship of wrought iron, which would define his career. His designs were distinguished by their elegant scrollwork, neoclassical motifs, and intricate gilded details, showcasing his unparalleled command of hand-forged iron. Unlike mass-produced industrial ironwork, Poillerat’s pieces were meticulously crafted with artistic precision, transforming a functional material into objects of true beauty.

Poillerat’s expertise extended to lighting design, where he masterfully combined sculptural fluidity with bold geometric patterns. His iron chandeliers and sconces, featuring graceful curves, intricate cut-outs, and gold leaf detailing, reflected his deep understanding of light and shadow in metalwork. These pieces remain highly sought after for their ability to add drama and elegance to any space.

4. Decorative Gates & Architectural Elements

Beyond furniture and lighting, Gilbert Poillerat also designed elaborate wrought iron gates, stair railings, and architectural features for luxurious residences and public buildings. His grand, custom-made works often incorporated Greek key motifs, stylized foliage, and mythological influences, blending function with artistic grandeur. These architectural elements not only served practical purposes but also became defining features of the spaces they adorned.
