Ofsted have this week announced a new consultation<\/a> to seek the views of parents, carers, professionals, and learners on a new approach to inspecting and reporting on education providers, from the autumn.\u202fThe proposals impact on early years settings, state-funded schools, non-association independent schools, further education\u00a0and skills providers, and initial teacher education providers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The proposed reforms follow widespread criticism of the inspection process adopted by Ofsted, which was brought to the forefront following the death of headteacher Ms Perry in 2023.<\/p>\n

What are the current proposals?<\/h3>\n

Ofsted have confirmed that the key proposals are:<\/p>\n

  1. Ofsted will issue \u2018report cards\u2019 that provide information to parents in a simple format;
    \u00a0<\/li>\n
  2. There will be a colour-coded five-point grading scale to evaluate areas of work, accompanied by a written summary of the findings for each area;
