For years, PETA scientists have encouraged the FDA to embrace human-relevant testing methods that don\u2019t use animals. Here are <strong>five regulatory actions the FDA can immediately take <\/strong>to advance efficient and human-relevant animal-free testing methods:<\/p>\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"426ef83f-4c3f-4050-97c3-3588f7446273\"><strong>1. Instead of <a href=\"https:\/\/support.peta.org\/page\/69570\/action\/1\">insisting that manufacturers test sunscreens using unreliable animal tests<\/a>, embrace modern tools, such as the use of existing human information and non-animal test methods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"bdc9bf23-81c6-4c7c-ad41-fbe550df03c9\"><strong>2. Accept the use of human tissue models to evaluate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/blog\/breakthrough-good-clean-love-spares-animals-tests-sets-precedent-fda\/\">personal lubricant products<\/a>, instead of the outdated rabbit vaginal irritation test<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"d48c1732-e2a3-4da2-a236-1dbb04d5d49b\">From implementing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/action\/action-alerts\/victory-congress-passes-groundbreaking-fda-modernization-act-2-0\/\">FDA Modernization Act 2.0<\/a>, to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/science-research\/about-science-research-fda\/fdas-predictive-toxicology-roadmap\">Predictive Toxicology Roadmap<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/blog\/covid-19-vaccine-fda-animal-testing\/\">approving lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines<\/a> years faster than the vaccine approval process normally takes, the FDA has started to move away from flawed and misleading tests on animals. The new administration can and <em>must <\/em>take action to fully embrace modern non-animal technology.<\/p>\n<h2 data-beyondwords-marker=\"e1d8242e-8be1-49ed-9d9c-608f674b96db\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What You Can Do<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-beyondwords-marker=\"b9da5f13-111b-4207-9608-e2d353df8f93\">No matter who holds office, PETA scientists will continue to push for policies that are best for <em>all<\/em> living beings.
