You need to sit this one out. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6IhE5xLxV8\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">pic.twitter.com\/6IhE5xLxV8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Secretary Sean Duffy (@SecDuffy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecDuffy\/status\/1887271139384135972?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">February 5, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWith the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system,\u201d wrote Musk on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While exact details on the plans were not put forward Musk appeared to be referring to Federal Aviation Administration\u2019s (FAA) NOTAM system which provides essential information to personnel concerned with operations that could affect the safety of a flight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>\u201cJust a few days ago, the FAA\u2019s primary aircraft safety notification system failed for several hours,\u201d added Musk.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The NOTAM system suffered an outage on February 2, 2025, that caused thousands of delays and hundreds of flight cancellations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/tag\/elon-musk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Elon Musk<\/a> and the Department of Government Efficiency have been causing controversy in the US due to far-reaching powers that have seen department staff access the US Treasury\u2019s payment system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-3\"\/>\n<p>On hearing the news that DOGE would \u201cplug in\u201d to the US air traffic control system figures from the political world spoke out.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Former Democrat Senator Hillary Clinton wrote: \u201cThey have no relevant experience. Most of them aren\u2019t old enough to rent a car. And you\u2019re going to let them mess with airline safety that\u2019s already deteriorated on your watch?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Focus on aviation safety has come to the forefront in recent days after a Black Hawk helicopter crashed with an American Eagle Bombardier CRJ-700 in Washington DC, resulting in the deaths of 67 people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"cnvs-block-posts
