{"id":7079823,"date":"2026-10-08T07:23:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T07:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7079823"},"modified":"2026-10-08T07:23:00","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T07:23:00","slug":"11-top-fall-wine-releases-from-the-us-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7079823","title":{"rendered":"11 top fall wine releases from the US in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-body\">\n<p id=\"elk-006ef770-c183-11f1-831f-2320d220c65d\">The chill of fall always makes me need a glass of something with more substance than a summer wine \u2013 something that suits an evening of indulgence or a night of reflection in front of a fire.<\/p>\n<p>Good thing we have autumn releases from some of the West Coast\u2019s top names in wine: Appassionata, Inglenook, L\u2019Aventure, Pym-Rae Tesseron Estate, Quintessa and V\u00e9rit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<aside data-article-category=\"wine\" data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"ecom-root\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-006ef770-c183-11f1-831f-2320d220c65d-2\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">It can be hard to pin down \u2018official\u2019 release dates for US wines, as they differ between the states, the UK and elsewhere in the world, not to mention between mailing-list members and the general public.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">But each of the wines below was introduced at La Place de Bordeaux\u2019s fall 2026 \u2018hors Bordeaux\u2019 campaign for notable wines from outside the region.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Though American, many of these wines do have a connection to Bordeaux or other parts of France, either through their founder, winemaker or source of inspiration.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Some of our experts\u2019 new reviews below provide a sneak peek of wines still to come, while other wines are available right now. (We did not include the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Here\u2019s an early head\u2019s up on the latest vintage of <strong>Illumination<\/strong>, a complex, layered Napa Valley white that is one of my favourite Sauvignon Blancs of all time.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/quintessa\/page\/1\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/quintessa\/page\/1\/2\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-article-category=\"wine\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/quintessa\/page\/1\/2\/\"><u><strong>Quintessa<\/strong><\/u><\/a> winemaker Rebecca Wineburg (yes, her career was seemingly preordained) crafts this blend \u2013 Sauvignon Blanc from the Huneuus family\u2019s biodynamic estate in eastern Rutherford, S\u00e9million (the Bordeaux influence) and the Sauvignon Musqu\u00e9 clone \u2013 with an extraordinary attention to detail.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">The most fascinating thing about Wineburg\u2019s approach is the variety of fermentation vessels \u2013 French oak (new and neutral), acacia and stainless-steel barrels, plus egg-shaped concrete \u2013 that she uses to coax out depths of textural, aromatic and flavour complexity rarely seen in California Sauvignon Blanc.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/inglenook\/page\/1\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/inglenook\/page\/1\/2\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-article-category=\"wine\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/wine-reviews\/search\/inglenook\/page\/1\/2\/\"><u><strong>Inglenook<\/strong><\/u><\/a><strong>\u2019s Blancaneux<\/strong> is a bit of a rarity in Napa\u2019s Rutherford appellation, prime real estate for Cabernet Sauvignon and its companion blending varieties.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">The winery is best known for its flagship Rubicon, a classic Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend, but has made this signature white since 1999.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Blancaneux looks to the Rh\u00f4ne Valley for inspiration, bringing together three white varieties \u2013 Viognier, Marsanne and Roussane \u2013 from estate vineyard blocks that get morning sun but afternoon shade to preserve acidity in the grapes.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">The vineyard blocks, blend percentages and amount of new oak versus neutral fermentation and aging vessels changes from vintage to vintage, but Bordeaux-trained director of winemaking Philippe Bascaules and his team deliver a consistently high-quality California interpretation of a Rh\u00f4ne white.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">The 2024 vintage has reached Europe, but the 2025 is now available in the US.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-napa-cabernet-with-a-french-accent\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"article-body__section kiosq-b\" id=\"section-napa-cabernet-with-a-french-accent\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><span>Napa Cabernet with a French Tesseron family \u2013 Alfred, Justine and No\u00e9 \u2013 acquired the late actor Robin Williams\u2019s former estate, kept the vineyard name and moulded it in their vision.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Famed consultant <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/obituaries\/obituary-michel-rolland-1947-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/obituaries\/obituary-michel-rolland-1947-2026\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-article-category=\"wine\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.decanter.com\/obituaries\/obituary-michel-rolland-1947-2026\/\"><u><strong>Michel Rolland<\/strong><\/u><\/a>, who died in March 2026, was brought on to help shape the Pym-Rae wines.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Now estate manager J\u00e9r\u00f4me Ledit carefully tends to the property, overseeing the detailed work, such as hand harvesting, manual destemming and the use of 40 small concrete fermentation vats.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">These allow for close study of each plot, so the team can fine-tune the farming and winemaking practices, as well as make more nuanced selections for the always-distinctive final blend.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-bordeaux-blends-from-a-sonoma-viewpoint\"
