Sugden and Grady Howe, who represent the woman, a former church employee. She is not being named because she has identified herself as an abuse victim.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\">Evidence released exclusively to <i>Roys Report (RR) <\/i>shows Calvary Chapel senior leaders were told numerous times that Harman, an ex-convict, was violent and struggled with addiction. But they did not take it seriously.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\">Calvary Chapel school administrator Kenny Wood told a parent raising concerns about the wrestling coach to <span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>go away and leave me alone,\u201d <span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Kenny-Wood-email.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">documents<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> show.\u00a0 Former senior Pastor Brian Brodersen <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Mugavero-investigation-notes_Redacted.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">reportedly<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> said the parents had <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"IT\">a vendetta<\/span>\u201d and allegations of physical violence did not need to be seriously investigated because the woman reporting them was <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>borderline crazy.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"julie-3948344918\" class=\"julie-content julie-entity-placement\">\n<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">Your tax-deductible gift supports our mission of reporting the truth and restoring the church. (Photo courtesy of cccm.com)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The Southern California megachurch, led by Pastor <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/local\/obituaries\/la-me-1004-chuck-smith-20131004-story.html\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Chuck Smith<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> from 1965 until his death in 2013, was <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/calvarychapel.com\/history\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">once<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> the center of the Jesus People movement \u2014 a story dramatized in the film <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"SV\">Jesus Revolution.<\/span>\u201d Smith, played by actor Kelsey Grammer in the movie, <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8vmHFvnjPDw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">believed<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> Calvary Chapel should be a place for people who felt judged to <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>find forgiveness and freedom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Brodersen, who succeeded Smith as senior pastor, apparently interpreted that to mean no accountability for a minister repeatedly accused of violence, Attorney Sugden told <\/span><span class=\"None\"><i><span lang=\"DE\">RR<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>This is a church that clearly values grace and forgiveness and second chances,\u201d Sugden said. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>There<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s a lot of beauty in that, but it must come with a corresponding responsibility. (Photo courtesy of cccm.com)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"NL\">Sugden <\/span><\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink2\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Amended-complaint-Calvary-Chapel-Harman-lawsuit_Redacted.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">sued<\/a><\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"> on the alleged survivor<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s behalf in Orange County Superior Court. The suit accused the church in the suburbs south of Los Angeles of aiding and abetting sexual assault and battery. Sugden announced the settlement to <\/span><span class=\"None\"><i><span lang=\"DE\">RR <\/span><\/i>this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The church admitted no fault and offered no apology, according to the terms of the settlement, Sugden said. It agreed to pay $12 million to end the civil litigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman, who <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teamthunderwrestling.com\/classes\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">continues<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> to coach wrestling in Southern California, with classes starting at $125 per month, denied all allegations of sexual violence during a seven-hour deposition in October. (Photo courtesy of LinkedIn)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, currently led by Brodersen<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"DA\">s son, Char Brodersen, <\/span>told <i>RR<\/i> that the legal settlement closes <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>a painful chapter\u201d in the church<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s history.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>The individual<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s behavior, including those violations addressed in a recently resolved lawsuit, was deemed unacceptable and a breach of our code of conduct,\u201d the church said in an unsigned email. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>We are grateful to have reached a resolution that reflects our commitment to caring for those affected by harmful behavior.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The lawsuit was scheduled for a jury trial in Orange County this fall. Court records show a judge was informed last month that a trial would no longer be necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><b>Found church while on probation<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman reportedly encountered Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 2000, while on probation. He pleaded guilty the year before to charges of assault with a deadly weapon.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Records in Las Vegas, Nevada, show Harman deliberately rammed his vehicle into four other occupied cars on March 6, 1999. As he would later explain in his conversion testimony, he was trying to quit drinking and doing drugs and had a paranoia episode where he believed people were following him.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>I was pretty scrambled,\u201d Harman said in his deposition last year, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>and then I think this (was) exacerbated by three days of no sleep and cutting, you know, chemicals, like, cold turkey.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">He faced a maximum possible sentence of 66 years in prison, but the court chose leniency, handing down a three-year suspended sentence. Harman found himself the following Sunday at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs, about 20 miles east of Los Angeles. He responded to an altar call to give his life to Christ. Immediately after, he ran into a former college wrestling coach who asked him if he wanted a job.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman was quickly hired at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to help with Maranatha Christian Academy<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s wrestling teams, according to church records. He was also invited regularly to share his testimony, which included four generations of alcoholics, child abuse, college parties, black-out drinking, jail and then Jesus and wrestling.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman became an integral part of the life of the church and grew close to many Calvary Chapel ministers. He would run into Smith in the hallway, Harman testified in his deposition, and Smith would always ask about the wrestling team and their upcoming competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He loved the wrestling,\u201d Harman said. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He really saw himself as, like, a man<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s man.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">After six years working at the church, Harman asked to be ordained, so he could minister to men in prison. The church agreed. Smith and three other church leaders signed his <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink4\"><span lang=\"FR\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Harman-ordination.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">ordination certificate<\/a><\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"> on March 15, 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">As Harman remembers it, no one on the pastoral staff or the board of elders asked him questions about his criminal past, his spiritual growth, his relationship with God or his theology.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2018<\/span><b>I want to marry her<\/b><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">No one asked any questions, either, when Harman, who was 31 at the time, started dating an 18-year-old girl he met while leading a youth group. He testified during his deposition that he specifically asked Brodersen, then an assistant minister, if the church would have any issues with their relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>And he said, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2018<\/span>No, you should do as the Lord leads,<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>\u201d Harman recalled. \u201cHe was great.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">According to the young woman, though, the relationship was deeply troubled. She later alleged that while they were dating, Harman pushed himself on her sexually before she was ready. She said that after they married, she realized her husband had a serious, ongoing drinking problem. She filed for divorce in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_121495\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121495\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-121495\" src=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-93.jpeg\" alt=\"Brian Brodersen,\" width=\"400\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-93.jpeg 365w, https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-93-200x300.jpeg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-121495\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brian Brodersen, who succeeded Chuck Smith as senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, said allegations against Harman did not need serious investigation because the woman reporting them was \u201cborderline crazy.\u201d (Photo courtesy of Facebook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Brodersen reached out to the woman that same year, church records show, to tell her that was not biblical.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The minister testified in his deposition that he did not ask what she meant when she said her marriage was \u201chell.\u201d He also dismissed concerns about addiction.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>I didn<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>t see that in Jake,\u201d Brodersen said. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He did not have the appearance of an addict in any of my interactions with him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman testified that after his divorce, he started drinking until he blacked out three or four times during the workweek and more often on weekends.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><b>Drunk driving arrest<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s drinking problem did not stay secret forever. In February 2016, he was arrested for drunk driving in Huntington Beach. He later pleaded guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman testified in his deposition that he assumed that the arrest would cost him his job. But Brodersen did not fire him. Or even discipline him.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>The man extended grace,\u201d Harman said. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He put just, like, a couple of little, like, brothers around me \u2026 to just be with me, you know?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"DA\">Brodersen<\/span> told the suing attorneys he did not ask anyone to investigate the incident but forbade Harman from driving student athletes. The church produced no written evidence of formal restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Around the same time, church leaders and school administrators started receiving anonymous emails raising concerns about Harman. One came from <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"IT\">Anon Bill,<\/span>\u201d another from <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"DE\">John Baptist<\/span>\u201d and a third, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"ES-TRAD\">Judas Iscariot.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>Jacob has proven to be an alcoholic, and have an addiction to narcotics and you continue to empower him,\u201d one email said. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He is a ticking time bomb.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Brodersen dismissed the concerns. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>This person obviously hates Jake,\u201d he <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Brian-Brodersen-email.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">said<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> in an email to a school administrator.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The complaints did not go away, however. In 2017, anonymous warnings were sent to parents of students in the wrestling program. Parents started coming forward with concerns about Harman<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s behavior too, church records show. They shared stories about him hurting students in training and assigning them dangerous weight loss regimens. They said Harman told students about his drinking and talked about considering suicide, according to evidence collected for the civil suit.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman was frequently described as volatile. He once lost his temper during a worship service, and it was caught on video. He berated students for not singing loudly enough <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"RU\">\u2014\u00a0<\/span>shouting, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>Weak! Mugavero said in a <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Wing-Mugavero-memo.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">memo<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> to Wing<i> <\/i>that the concerned parents <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"RU\">\u2014\u00a0<\/span>not the coach<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"RU\">\u2014\u00a0<\/span>should be seen as a <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>ticking time bomb that needs to be defused.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">He proposed texting parents to assure them the issue was being handled. Wing, who worked as Smith<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s personal assistant for more than a decade before becoming an administrative pastor, <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Wing-Mugavero-memo.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">responded<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\">, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>Nothing in writing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><b>Board discounts woman<\/b><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><b><span lang=\"PT\">s assault<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The day the two men started looking into the school <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>situation with Jake,\u201d the woman who would later sue contacted Brodersen<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s office and asked for a meeting. Brodersen<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s assistant sent him an email with the subject line, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>Emergency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\">The senior<span class=\"None\"> minister did not respond. Brodersen testified in his deposition he does not remember the email but would not have responded anyway, because the situation had been delegated.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The woman followed up with a <\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink6\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roysreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Letter_Redacted.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">letter<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> two days later. She said that earlier that year, she tried to help Harman when he showed up at her house drunk. The woman, who is not being identified because of the abuse allegations, said she got into the car to drive Harman home, and he started yelling at her.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>I don<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>t remember details of what came first or last,\u201d she wrote. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He \u2026 smashed his hand down on my wrist and hand a few times and hit the side of my head on my ear and the back of my head and reached across and choked me with one hand. He was squeezing so tight that I was hitting the driver side window with my left hand for him to stop.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The woman said she somehow got Harman to his home and hid in the bathroom. She said she called a friend, whose children also attended the school, to rescue her. She told church leaders the friend could confirm the injuries on her wrists, hands, neck and head.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Board members\u2019 investigative notes show the friend did confirm she picked the woman up that night. She was running, crying in the street, the friend told them, and had visible marks on her body.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The woman who would later testify under oath that this was not the only time Harman was violent. She alleged he forced her to have sexual intercourse against her will on 12 separate occasions. She did not think church leaders would believe her.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Board member Mugavero wrote in his notes that he <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>discounted her testimony\u201d because he suspected she was romantically involved with Harman. Brodersen apparently thought this was the right decision, telling Mugavero that he asked Harman about the allegations and Harman told him the woman was <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>borderline crazy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">In his deposition, Brodersen testified that he did not think the allegations should be taken seriously because the woman and Harman were adults <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>in some sort of relational thing gone bad.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">The board decided, nonetheless, to sever the church<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s relationship with Harman <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>as soon as possible.\u201d One board member said the coach had become a <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>huge\u201d liability.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Harman<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s ordination was revoked on July 25, 2017. He continued to receive donations through the church for several months, church records show.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><b>Judge rules rape allegations accurate<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Some of the wrestling student<\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2019<\/span>s parents, however, was still not satisfied. Fernando and Alena Zotea started posting allegations on social media.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>Jacob Harman is a criminal in the USA,\u201d one of the Zoetas allegedly wrote in an Instagram story, set to disappear in 24 hours. <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>He is a fake pastor \u2026. He raped one of the moms and he says the devil made him do it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">In 2018, Harman sued the couple, alleging defamation. The case took five years to wind its way to a conclusion. He said her testimony was <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>detailed and compelling,\u201d and he believed there was sufficient evidence to determine she was sexually assaulted <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>on at least one occasion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>That \u2026 is sufficient,\u201d the judge wrote, <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u201c<\/span>to accurately characterize and truthfully assert that (Harman) is a <\/span><span class=\"None\"><span dir=\"RTL\" lang=\"AR-SA\">\u2018<\/span><\/span><span class=\"None\"><span lang=\"IT\">rapist.<\/span>\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">Attorneys David R. Sugden and Grady Howe said that vindication was not enough, however.
