There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from not knowing.<\/span><\/p>\n Not knowing what happens next.<\/span><\/p>\n Not knowing whether the situation will improve.<\/span><\/p>\n Not knowing which decision is right.<\/span><\/p>\n Not knowing why something happened in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes uncertainty is harder than bad news because at least bad news gives you something definite to respond to. Uncertainty leaves the mind filling in the blanks.<\/span><\/p>\n We imagine conversations that have not happened. We worry about outcomes we cannot see. We replay decisions. We ask \u201cwhat if?\u201d until the question itself becomes exhausting.<\/span><\/p>\n And somewhere in the middle of all that, a Christian may quietly wonder:<\/span><\/p>\n Where is God in this?<\/b><\/p>\n It is an important question.<\/span><\/p>\n But perhaps an even more important one is:<\/span><\/p>\n Where do I turn when I cannot control what comes next?<\/b><\/p>\n Christian faith does not promise that we will always know the answer. Scripture is filled with people who experienced fear, grief, questions, hesitation, waiting, and uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n Faith was never meant to be a performance in which we pretend that everything is fine.<\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes faith is what remains when everything is <\/span>not<\/span><\/i> fine.<\/span><\/p>\n Faith is not having a crystal ball. It is knowing where to stand when the future is hidden.<\/b><\/p>\n Some uncertainty is ordinary.<\/span><\/p>\n You wonder how an exam will go.<\/span><\/p>\n You are waiting to hear about an opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n You are unsure about a decision.<\/span><\/p>\n You do not know what a new season will look like.<\/span><\/p>\n But other uncertainty reaches much deeper.<\/span><\/p>\n A relationship changes.<\/span><\/p>\n A family enters a difficult season.<\/span><\/p>\n A carefully made plan suddenly disappears.<\/span><\/p>\n Someone disappoints you.<\/span><\/p>\n The future you imagined no longer seems possible.<\/span><\/p>\n Suddenly, the question is no longer simply, \u201cWhat should I do?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n It becomes:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWho am I when I don\u2019t know what is going to happen?\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n That is where uncertainty can expose something deeper.<\/span><\/p>\n We often discover how much of our peace depended on being able to predict the future.<\/span><\/p>\n As long as tomorrow looks familiar, we feel secure.<\/span><\/p>\n When tomorrow becomes unpredictable, we realize how much we were relying on our ability to control things.<\/span><\/p>\n And that can be an uncomfortable discovery.<\/span><\/p>\n One of the biggest misunderstandings about Christian faith is the idea that faithful people should never struggle emotionally.<\/span><\/p>\n As though fear automatically means weak faith.<\/span><\/p>\n As though questions mean we have failed.<\/span><\/p>\n As though sadness is evidence that we are not trusting God enough.<\/span><\/p>\n But Scripture gives us a much more human picture.<\/span><\/p>\n Peter followed Jesus and still became afraid.<\/span><\/p>\n Job experienced profound suffering and asked difficult questions.<\/span><\/p>\n The father in Mark 9 expressed belief while simultaneously admitting his struggle.<\/span><\/p>\n Even Jesus, in Gethsemane, brought His anguish honestly before the Father.<\/span><\/p>\n That should give us permission to be honest.<\/span><\/p>\n You can love God and still have questions.<\/span><\/p>\n You can trust God and still feel uncertain.<\/span><\/p>\n You can pray and still not know what will happen.<\/span><\/p>\n You can have faith and still need encouragement.<\/span><\/p>\n Faith does not require you to become less human.<\/b><\/p>\n Instead, faith gives you somewhere to bring your humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n When something difficult happens, we often ask:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHow can I make this uncertainty disappear?\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n That is understandable.<\/span><\/p>\n But there is another question that may take us deeper:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHow can I remain faithful while I am living through uncertainty?\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Those questions sound similar, but they lead somewhere completely different.<\/span><\/p>\n The first is about control.<\/span><\/p>\n The second is about character.<\/span><\/p>\n The first asks how quickly we can change our circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n The second asks who we are becoming while we wait.<\/span><\/p>\n Maybe the difficult season will not immediately change.<\/span><\/p>\n But perhaps we can become more patient.<\/span><\/p>\n More prayerful.<\/span><\/p>\n More honest.<\/span><\/p>\n More compassionate.<\/span><\/p>\n More dependent on God.<\/span><\/p>\n More willing to receive help.<\/span><\/p>\n More aware of what truly matters.<\/span><\/p>\n That does not make hardship good in itself.<\/span><\/p>\n It means God can still work within us while circumstances remain unresolved.<\/span><\/p>\n This distinction is easy to miss.<\/span><\/p>\n Certainty says:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI know exactly what will happen.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Faith says:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know exactly what will happen, but I know where I can turn.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n That is a different kind of confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n Christian faith is not ultimately confidence in our predictions.<\/span><\/p>\n It is confidence in God.<\/span><\/p>\n That means we can honestly say:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t understand this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know how this will work out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI wish things were different.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n And still say:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cGod, I choose to keep turning toward You.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n That is not pretending.<\/span><\/p>\n That is trust.<\/span><\/p>\n Uncertainty can make us strangely controlling.<\/span><\/p>\n We replay conversations.<\/span><\/p>\n We check for signs.<\/span><\/p>\n We ask everyone what they think.<\/span><\/p>\n We imagine every possible outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n We try to predict what other people will do.<\/span><\/p>\n We make plans for situations that may never happen.<\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes preparation is wise.<\/span><\/p>\n But there is a point where preparation becomes an attempt to eliminate uncertainty altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n And no human being can do that.<\/span><\/p>\n There will always be things beyond our control.<\/span><\/p>\n Other people\u2019s decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n Unexpected circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n Timing.<\/span><\/p>\n Opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n Losses.<\/span><\/p>\n Changes.<\/span><\/p>\n The future itself.<\/span><\/p>\n We may spend enormous amounts of energy trying to create certainty where certainty simply does not exist.<\/span><\/p>\n And eventually we have to ask:<\/span><\/p>\n What if peace does not come from controlling everything?<\/b><\/p>\n What if peace comes from knowing whom we trust when we cannot control everything?<\/b><\/p>\n This is one reason Scripture remains so relatable.<\/span><\/p>\n Its heroes are not presented as emotionally perfect people.<\/span><\/p>\n Abraham did not receive the entire future at once.<\/span><\/p>\n Moses faced situations that were far beyond his personal ability.<\/span><\/p>\n David wrote from places of fear and distress.<\/span><\/p>\n The disciples often misunderstood what Jesus was doing.<\/span><\/p>\n The early Christians faced opposition and uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n The biblical story is filled with people who had to move forward without having the complete picture.<\/span><\/p>\n That matters.<\/span><\/p>\n Because sometimes we imagine that a mature Christian is someone who has finally figured everything out.<\/span><\/p>\n But perhaps maturity looks less like having every answer and more like knowing where to go with unanswered questions.<\/span><\/p>\n We naturally want the map.<\/span><\/p>\n God sometimes gives us a direction.<\/span><\/p>\n We want the complete explanation.<\/span><\/p>\n We may receive enough understanding for today.<\/span><\/p>\n We want to know exactly how the story ends.<\/span><\/p>\n Faith sometimes asks us to be faithful with the part of the story we can see.<\/span><\/p>\n That might mean making one wise decision.<\/span><\/p>\n Having one honest conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n Praying one more time.<\/span><\/p>\n Asking someone trustworthy for advice.<\/span><\/p>\n Doing what is right even when the outcome is unclear.<\/span><\/p>\n Then taking the next step.<\/span><\/p>\n We do not need to live tomorrow today.<\/span><\/p>\n There is a kind of freedom in realizing that.<\/span><\/p>\n This is where faith becomes more than wishful thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n It is relatively easy to trust God when everything goes according to our plans.<\/span><\/p>\n But what
