Take in\u00a0the view with a coupe of Deutz Blanc de Blancs Champagne and savour a fabulous lunch by\u00a0Chef Christophe Marchais,\u00a0<\/a> the decadent desserts (ohh those Parisians\u00a0LOVE their dessert!) of Pastry\u00a0Chef Baptiste Methivier\u00a0<\/a>and the incredible view.<\/p>\n

Paris Flowers to Brighten Your Stay<\/span><\/h3>\n

To live like a Parisian while stopping to smell the flowers, a stroll and amble through the Art Nouveau pavilions (C 1900) plant stalls is a must. In the \u00cele de la Cit\u00e9\u2019s March\u00e9 aux Fleurs Reine Elizabeth II<\/a>, experience exotic orchids, florals, plants and shrubs. On Sundays, the market converts into the March\u00e9 aux Oiseaux, where locals\u00a0shop for their summer gardens and winter tables.<\/p>\n

Off the beaten path<\/span><\/h3>\n

and worth a visit are the wander-ful\u00a0Les Passages couverts de Paris<\/a>. Many have fallen into neglect but are certainly worth a stroll through to view the unique shops, wine bars, petits-restos, and libraries anciens that were originally designed to give nineteenth-century Parisians protection from mud and horse-drawn vehicles. There is an extensive network that runs from the rue St-Marc which includes Les Passages des Panoramas<\/a> all the way up to le Passage Verdeau<\/a> on the rue de Faubourg Montmartre. Keep your eyes open as their entrances are easy to miss and many are closed nights and on Sundays.<\/p>\n

Window Shopping along Rue des Francs-Bourgeois in the Marais<\/span><\/h3>\n

You\u2019ll find great \u2018au courant\u2019 Parisian designs to ogle while window shopping throughout the city,\u00a0then make the comparison (and much cheaper) purchase at Printemps<\/a>, Galeries Lafayette<\/a> or perhaps Le Bon March\u00e9 Rive Gauche<\/a>. Finish your window shop\/stroll at the somewhat touristy Place des Vosges<\/a>, Paris\u2019 first \u2018urban planning\u2019 project and one of the last remaining vistas of what the Paris of old looked like. Worth a visit and a fine place to people-watch from the park.<\/p>\n

Get away<\/span><\/h3>\n

from the Grand Museums of Paris with visits to several \u2018mus\u00e9es insolites\u2019 (unusual), including Mus\u00e9e du Quai Branly <\/a>for indigenous\u00a0art (we totally enjoyed the exhibit \u2018Tatouers, Tatou\u00e9s\u2019<\/a>, which later transferred to Toronto\u2019s Royal Ontario Museum<\/a> in April 2016), Mus\u00e9e Jacquemart-Andr\u00e9<\/a>\u00a0for \u2018Frick\/Family-Style, private collection viewing, le Mus\u00e9e de la Magie,\u00a0<\/a> le Mus\u00e9e du Vin<\/a>, \u00a0le Mus\u00e9e du Perfume (also known as the Fragonard Mus\u00e9e du Parfum), <\/a>and followsummer\u2019s favourite, the Mus\u00e9e Arts-Forains<\/a>\u00a0with a focus on the Belle Epoque. Once inside, watch for le Th\u00e9atre du Merveilleux and le Salon V\u00e9nitien.<\/p>\n

Life Less Ordinary in Paris\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Spend some time with the joggers and lunchtime office workers enjoying their takeaway brown bags on Paris\u2019 original older sister version of New York\u2019s High Line, the Promenade of\u00a0Le Viaduc des Arts<\/a>. Starting in the Faubourg St-Antoine, stroll the elevated entire length and enjoy some classic Paris views before circling back at street level; stop and shop the many ateliers and shops nestled underneath the rose-coloured archways.<\/p>\n

at the top and bottom ends of\u00a0le Canal St Martin<\/a>, you\u00a0will find fresh fish, produce, wonderful cheeses, beautiful flowers (expertly arranged in gorgeous bouquets \u2018while you wait\u2019 by a handsome Frenchman) to brick-a-brac and consignment clothing. Linger over coffee, lunch or \u2018une coupe de champagne\u2019 in one of the\u00a0charming little caf\u00e9s\u00a0<\/a>that ring the covered canal.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all about getting off that well-worn tourist path and exploring some of the hidden delights of one of followsummer\u2019s favourite cities in the world.<\/h3>\n
