I listed my commitments and concerns, deadlines and dates on my calendar with every appointment, event, conference call and meeting I could think of for the next\u00a0six months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>And I prayed: <em>Please God, show me where I need to make changes.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I assumed the Holy Spirit would suggest adjustments in my schedule, but that\u2019s not what happened. God didn\u2019t tell me to make cut backs at work or in ministry. He didn\u2019t show me our family had too many activities. He didn\u2019t challenge me to take a sabbatical, although I was hoping He would.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Jesus showed me it was worry <\/em><\/strong>\u2014 <strong><em>not my workload <\/em><\/strong>\u2014 <strong><em>that was making me weary.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You see, without realizing it I was spending\u00a0as much time thinking and worrying about concerns, commitments, circumstances and deadlines as I did working on them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>It was not only how I spent my <em>time<\/em>, but how I spent my <em>thoughts<\/em> that left me depleted.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it wasn\u2019t until I brought it all to God, and wrote it all out, that I recognized what was happening. I wonder if that\u2019s why\u00a0Peter tells us:\u00a0\u201cGive all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.\u201d 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The apostle Paul tells us the same thing, and shows us how:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>\u201cDon\u2019t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and A\u00a0him for all he has done. Then you will experience God\u2019s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.\u201d\u00a0(Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s not easy. Honestly, our\u00a0natural tendency\u00a0is to take control.
