The update is not a direct statement from either club: CaughtOffside attributes Liverpool\u2019s opposition to a January loan to Football Insider and says Juventus\u2019 interest has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.<\/p>\n<h2>Liverpool plan to manage Leoni\u2019s return<\/h2>\n<p>Leoni is viewed as part of Liverpool\u2019s long-term project and first-team picture, rather than a player the club wants to develop elsewhere. The reported plan is to increase his minutes gradually as he regains fitness, rather than place him straight into a heavy workload.<\/p>\n<p>CaughtOffside also reports that Andoni Iraola is expected to need the defender during the second half of the campaign. Liverpool hope Leoni can return to Premier League action during October, making his progress in the weeks ahead relevant to both his role at Anfield and Juventus\u2019 pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>Juventus have already been linked with Leoni as they consider defensive options, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juvefc.com\/juventus-transfer-targets-leoni-palmisani\/\"><strong>reported interest in Leoni<\/strong><\/a> forms part of a longer-running story around the Bianconeri\u2019s recruitment. For now, however, a temporary move in January is not an option Liverpool are willing to entertain, according to the report.<\/p>\n<h2>Juventus\u2019 immediate route is closed<\/h2>\n<p>The refusal removes the clearest short-term route for Juventus, but it does not establish that Liverpool would reject every future proposal. The report says the Italian club\u2019s interest is unlikely to disappear; any later move would depend on developments at Anfield and Leoni\u2019s return to regular football.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping him could also matter to Liverpool if defensive demands rise in the second half of the season. The club intend to handle his minutes carefully as he works towards competitive action, while Juventus must look beyond a January loan unless Liverpool\u2019s position changes.
