Chicago, Illinois-based Reyes\u2014the largest U.S. beer wholesaler\u2014acquired a large share of RNDC\u2019s business in a deal for 11 markets accounting for more than $5 billion in revenues last year. Reyes Beverage Group Spirits and Wine is now the No.-3 wine and spirits wholesaler in the U.S. after Southern Glazer\u2019s and Breakthru.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough acquisition and expansion, we\u2019ve broadened our footprint, adding new markets, talent, capabilities, and supplier partnerships to our business,\u201d says RBG CEO Tom Day, who will be <a href=\"https:\/\/clicks.email.shankennewsdaily.com\/f\/a\/ReO7_QzXSi3iqDETC59kYQ~~\/AAQRxRA~\/Rf42Pjq3jUsH_j_ueoH2cioR9jByZygz_u7pZZWHTZI32I-C4--_89poui0OgQpZdBGMDNmJumWuOQC2xqyRDTvnvzaX8ul9sEodeodM41DDlxn0JnoZIL41hrb-XZNQrZUJIzE647NkbDGiD07NlSnA0Om3PUC7zVkA45BZkjq_c28gLlFyt3fyt5ey7zGpdwYR6CdrbdFp3vcNg01gNp-YmZnme5gP0Ybk43lRG0k~\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/clicks.email.shankennewsdaily.com\/f\/a\/ReO7_QzXSi3iqDETC59kYQ~~\/AAQRxRA~\/Rf42Pjq3jUsH_j_ueoH2cioR9jByZygz_u7pZZWHTZI32I-C4--_89poui0OgQpZdBGMDNmJumWuOQC2xqyRDTvnvzaX8ul9sEodeodM41DDlxn0JnoZIL41hrb-XZNQrZUJIzE647NkbDGiD07NlSnA0Om3PUC7zVkA45BZkjq_c28gLlFyt3fyt5ey7zGpdwYR6CdrbdFp3vcNg01gNp-YmZnme5gP0Ybk43lRG0k~&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1791388323540000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1DTG7JBdzmpO6K97yQ--6T\">among the speakers<\/a> at this Thursday\u2019s 50th Annual Impact Marketing Seminar in New York. \u201cWe\u2019re increasing category fluency across the organization to deliver on our total beverage strategy with elite execution, and as we invest in the tools, technology, infrastructure, and people that move our business forward, we\u2019re confident our biggest opportunities still lie ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, wine and spirits wholesalers are becoming total beverage distribution companies. In July, Southern Glazer\u2019s\u2014the No.-1 wine and spirits wholesaler nationwide\u2014announced \u201cWine &amp; Spirits\u201d is being dropped from its name in early 2027. \u201cThat was not a cosmetic exercise. We\u2019ve been a wine and spirits company by name and a beverage company by ambition for some time,\u201d says Mark Chaplin, president, commercial sales, Southern Glazer\u2019s. \u201cBeer, RTDs, and NAs are precisely why we did it. We aren\u2019t becoming a beer company. We\u2019ve been one and are backing it up with meaningful acquisitions. Our commitment to our core wine and spirits business remains the same.\u201d Southern Glazer\u2019s beer revenues are in excess of $1 billion annually.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Glazer\u2019s agreed last year to acquire Anheuser Busch\u2019s New York City distribution operation and set up Southern Glazer\u2019s Beverage Company of New York across Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx. This year it followed with acquisitions of beer wholesalers Clare Rose on Long Island, New York and Eagle Rock Distributing Company in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most significant investment we\u2019ve made is bringing the great technology we\u2019ve developed and implemented in our legacy business to team members of our newly acquired operations,\u201d Chaplin says. \u201cThe consolidation of our frontline sales tools into a single digital hub will enable us to leverage this best-in-market technology across our broader business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"m_-6802340245403277928_more-40791\"\/>Meanwhile, last month Martignetti Companies agreed to acquire fellow Massachusetts-based distributor Girardi for an undisclosed sum. A fourth-generation family-owned player in central and western Massachusetts, Girardi handles the Anheuser-Busch portfolio along with other beer, wine, and spirits offerings. The planned purchase will further Martignetti\u2019s goal of providing New England customers with a total beverage alcohol offering across wine, beer, spirits, and RTDs, according to the company. Expected to close this fall, the deal marks the third expansion in Massachusetts beer distribution for Martignetti in recent years, also including its plays for Quality Beverage and the AB One Boston operation in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Further back, Breakthru Beverage expanded in beer with its 2022 deal for J.J. Taylor in the Minnesota market, bolstering its total beverage alcohol footprint. Breakthru had initially planned to acquire RNDC\u2019s interests in Kentucky and Indiana this year, but backed away from the proposed deal in August.
