The 142.3 million euros transaction was completed on Oct. 1, 2026, and covers \u010cesk\u00e9 aerolinie, Smartwings and their subsidiaries.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1457px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/travelradar.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/smartwings-8-1600-1000-80.jpg\" alt=\"Smartwings Boeing 737 MAX 8 taxiing on a wet runway, with an airport control tower visible in the background.\" width=\"1457\" height=\"1000\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Smartwings Boeing 737 MAX 8 \u00a9 Smartwings<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Pegasus\u2019 Acquisition strategy<\/h2>\n<p>Smartwings Group is a leading leisure carrier based in Central Europe; together with \u010cesk\u00e9 aerolinie, it was one of the region\u2019s longest-standing airline groups until \u010cesk\u00e9 aerolinie ceased operations in 2024 after filing for bankruptcy.\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelradar.aero\/pegasus-airlines-commits-to-e154m-takeover-of-smartwings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pegasus finalised the acquisition of \u010cesk\u00e9 aerolinie<\/a> in December 2025 through an agreement with Prague City Air, acquiring<\/span>\u00a070% directly and the remaining 30% indirectly through Smartwings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\"><a href=\"https:\/\/travelradar.aero\/pegasus-airlines-project-financing-eight-a321-200ns-approved\/\">Pegasus<\/a> finds the acquisition very significant to its growth. With Smartwings\u2019 strong leisure-market presence, Pegasus gains an advantage in the region. With soaring operational costs and supply chain delays, combining fleets, networks, and other synergies helps the operator keep costs low and strengthen its competitiveness against other operators in the region. Speaking on the completion of the acquisition, G\u00fcliz \u00d6zt\u00fcrk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur story began with a dream of a world where everyone can fly, and today, Pegasus Airlines and Smartwings come together to take that ambition forward. Together we can grow further and offer our guests more choice than any of us could alone. The people and relationships behind each airline are the reason I\u2019m confident in what comes next, and we look forward to writing the next chapter together with all our colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ji\u0159\u00ed \u0160im\u00e1n\u011b, co-founder of Smartwings, added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSmartwings has been built over many years by dedicated people and by the loyalty of passengers and partners, to whom I am deeply grateful. We are confident that Pegasus Airlines is the right partner to build on these strengths, support future growth and create lasting value for everyone connected with both airlines.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to ch-aviation, Smartwings Group operates 45 aircraft.
