Pointing Fingers<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s so easy to point fingers, isn\u2019t it?? My kids seem to have come by it so quickly. As I lecture them about that timeless defense, \u201cWhat he did was way worse than what I did!\u201d I felt a twinge in my own heart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n How many times have I used this excuse? With not only my own parents as a child, but as an adult with my Lord!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n See, my kids use it in small things, child mistake type things. For example, \u201cI forgot to water the dogs, but look, HE broke your favorite mug!\u201d Neither is ok or suitable. One child is trying to make themselves look better than the other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Well, I\u2019m guilty of it too. I have said to the Lord, \u201cLook, I know I\u2019m not perfect, but at least I didn\u2019t do\u00a0random sin here<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Then in my bible study as I see the sinners God used, and I think, \u201cI would never be like that.\u201d I\u2019m instantly convicted that I have been every bit the same sinner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I read about the ups and downs of the Israelites; I think, \u201cHow could they forget God freed them from slavery? They know God\u2019s promises\u201d Then I\u2019m immediately humbled \u2013 I am exactly like that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I have felt God\u2019s goodness. He has blessed me more than I could have imagined. Still, I cry out. I want God to make things perfect for my family. It is not supposed to be perfect here on earth. We will see struggles, and we will feel brokenness. Partly I think the struggles bring us closer to the Lord. The struggles remind us that this is not heaven.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n Sometimes the blessing is in the broken pieces of what we perceive as unanswered prayers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Sometimes that challenge of a friend or spouse is the kick in the pants God uses to get us to where we need to be.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So maybe instead of pointing fingers or looking at someone else\u2019s social media feed wishing, we were them, we should pause.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We need to recognize the beauty in our own stories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stop trying to say someone is better or worse than yourself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stop comparing. We are each on a very separate journey. We will never fully understand what\u2019s going on in someones else\u2019s story.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\nI picture God looking at me lovingly, saying, \u201cNow Jenny, let us take a step back for a second.\u201d<\/span><\/h4>\n
