{"id":7077793,"date":"2026-10-06T06:18:31","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T06:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7077793"},"modified":"2026-10-06T06:18:31","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T06:18:31","slug":"liverpool-news-big-virgil-van-dijk-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7077793","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool News: Big Virgil van Dijk claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.live4liverpool.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Liv4-7-1024x576.png\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-test-id=\"text\">\n<p><em>\u201cBut as I said, he\u2019s the master of his own destiny, and the fact that he will be a free agent in the summer if there\u2019s no new deal on the tail from Liverpool means he can probably have his pick of where he wants to continue his career.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Liverpool HAVE to offer Virgil van Dijk a new deal?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Van Dijk is still largely unmatched in the world game, with Andoni Iraola unlikely to want anyone else at the back if it were the Champions League final tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>He may now be 35, and perhaps not at the all-time great level he was at five or six years ago, but he is still arguably the first name on the Reds\u2019 team sheet, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolfc.com\/news\/i-put-virgil-van-dijk-among-giants-liverpool-fc\">Jamie Carragher<\/a> recently discussed his legendary status:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m talking like Stevie [Steven Gerrard], Kenny Dalglish, [Graeme] Souness, Alan Hansen, John Barnes, Mo Salah, the top sort of seven or eight players. Without a doubt he is right in the middle of that. And he\u2019s not at the bottom of the list, I can assure you.
