Many of us would have less of a problem resting if we actually trusted God to do what we are clearly finite in our ability to do.

When we willingly refuse to rest, we’re saying that we don’t trust God to handle it. Refusing to rest is saying that we must do it all ourselves. Or that His way and timing aren’t sufficient.

We always have to do our part, but resting implies that we also trust God to do His. Resting implies that we trust Him as the Great Multiplier to make our little a bigger. Resting implies that God can always do more with less. And that His access and resources aren’t limited to our abilities and time.

Ambition and passion are beautiful gifts but they can become idols if we elevate them above the way God wants to do things.

Resting acknowledges our dependence on a Greater. Exchanging our weakness for His strength.

📖 2 Corinthians 12.9: “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.”

How do we live the exchanged life?

We do this by exchanging our weakness for Jesus’ strength and peace. And true peace is not the absence of chaos, true peace is God’s presence with us in everything.

Living the exchanged life means:

1] Humbling ourselves.

Acknowledging our weaknesses, need, powerlessness, and sin.

2] Surrendering all.

Yielding every expectation, right, agenda, and control completely over to Jesus.

3] Receiving His peace.

Allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us with His presence and peace as we humble and surrender ourselves.

We can’t do anything for God without His help to help us do it.
