<\/a><\/div>\nToday’s sampling is a beer that I’ve reviewed in the local newspaper, but not here – Dragon Stout<\/b> by Desnoes & Geddes<\/span><\/a><\/b>, which is partially owned by Heineken<\/span><\/a><\/b> apparently. 7.5% ABV<\/p>\n When I reviewed the stout for the local paper, the beer was available in Canada in 300mL format.. but now it’s been shrunk down to 284mL, which is more in line with the Dragon Stouts I drank while in Negril. Damn, Jamaica has some of the best stouts I ever had in my life, and when it’s 30C you would think “stouts are a terrible beer to drink at the beach”, but in reality – they are great if you drink them before they start getting warm.. which could easily happen as many of them are available in formats as large as 1L bottles.<\/p>\n Appearance: <\/b>Deep, dark, deep as night body with a thick amount of yellowish-beige-cookie dough foam on top. The head diminishes rather slowly, to the point that I’ve taken one single sip so far and there’s only a slight amount of cookie doughish beige lacing on the glass so far.<\/p>\n Aroma: <\/b>This is a bit of a lighter malty stout than what I’ve been reviewing recently – I was expecting a deep, burnt coffee presence, a bit of caramel, dark chocolate – but I got a bit of raisin, caramel, slight roasted malt presence but fairly faint.<\/p>\n Taste:<\/b> A tad boozy, caramel, raisins, somewhat roasted malt but not giving off a roasty, bitter presence in any way.. sure, it’s a tad bitter but it’s really a sweet, dessert-forward stout, though there’s a hint of peat at the end. Incredibly smooth, creamy for mouthfeel, definitely boozy.<\/p>\n Overall Thoughts: <\/b>Yeah, this doesn’t remind me in any way the Dragon Stouts I drank 10-15 years ago, this is more of a boozy, caramel-forward stout, a definite dessert stout. Definitely a great beer in every sense, but it’s not what I fell in love with..\u00a0<\/p>\n Eff, it’s been way too long since I’ve gone on a vacation that had me check out a new beer..\n<\/div>\n
