Emmanuella&#8217;s Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div itemprop=\"text\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long before the kings of Israel,<br \/>before the psalms of David filled the air,<br \/>before the temple stood in Jerusalem,<br \/>There were names.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pages and pages of them.<br \/>Fathers and sons.<br \/>Generations marching quietly through history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Book of 1 Chronicles records them carefully, as beads threaded together on a long string of memory.<br \/>At first glance, it feels repetitive.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-2005\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Easy to skim.<br \/>Easy to rush past.<br \/>Name after name.<br \/>Line after line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But then, in the middle of it all,<br \/>Scripture pauses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1 Chronicles 4:9-10,<br \/>The rhythm breaks.<br \/>For one man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a name that carried a story.<br \/><strong>Jabez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His mother gave him that name because he was born in pain.<br \/>In the ancient world, names were not casual labels.<br \/>They carried meaning.<br \/>Expectation.<br \/>Sometimes even destiny itself.<br \/>To be named Jabez<br \/>was to carry a word that followed you everywhere.<br \/>Every greeting, introduction.<br \/>Every reminder whispering the same message:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet Scripture says something remarkable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.<br \/>His name carried sorrow,<br \/>but his life carried honor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pain named him.<br \/>But prayer defined him.<br \/>And then, in just a few lines,<br \/>we hear his prayer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh that You would bless me indeed\u2026<br \/>Enlarge my territory\u2026<br \/>Let Your hand be with me\u2026<br \/>Keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a quiet prayer.<br \/>But it is bold.<br \/>He asks for a blessing, and not for comfort,<br \/>But for a purpose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He asks for expansion, <br \/>not for status,<br \/>but for responsibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He asks for God\u2019s hand, <br \/>knowing he cannot carry the weight of life alone.<br \/>And he asks for protection<br \/>not because he denies pain,<br \/>but because he refuses to be ruled by it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then the verse ends with a simple, powerful sentence:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God granted his request.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Two verses.<\/em><br \/><em>That is all the Bible gives us about Jabez.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right in the middle of a long genealogy,<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God interrupts the list<br \/>to show what dependence looks like.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And suddenly Jabez\u2019s story feels very close to ours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because many of us carry labels too.<br \/>Sometimes they come from others or from our past.<br \/>Sometimes from wounds we never chose.<br \/>Failure.<br \/>Loss.<br \/>Shame.<br \/>Disappointment.<br \/>Words that try to follow us<br \/>the way \u201cpain\u201d followed Jabez.<br \/>But his story whispers something important:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Identity is not sealed<br \/>by the label placed on you,<br \/>but by the God you call upon<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The labels of life may describe chapters,<br \/>but they do not write the ending.<br \/>And ultimately, the cross interrupts every label.<br \/>Through Christ, God steps into our story<br \/>and speaks a better word.<br \/>Redeemed.<br \/>Chosen.<br \/>Honored.<br \/>Loved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your past does not have the final word.<br \/>Pain does not define you.<br \/>Your scars do not determine your destiny.<br \/>They may call you by your pain.<br \/>But Christ calls you by your name.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have called you by name;
