On blogs and podcasts, the commentariat has marvelled at the<br \/>\nemergence of an elusive bipartisan consensus. And well they should: the most<br \/>\nrecent polling shows that an astounding seventy-one per cent of the population<br \/>\nopposes data-center construction in their areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Equally astonishing, if not yet equally remarked upon, is<br \/>\nthe consensus about A.I. itself. Sixty-nine per cent of Americans are<br \/>\n\u201cconcerned\u201d about the technology\u2019s role in society, according to a study that<br \/>\nused data from norc at the University of Chicago. A poll conducted by NBC last<br \/>\nspring found that A.I. is less popular than such societal darlings as ice,<br \/>\nDonald Trump, and J. D.
