I felt stifled by these walls, it wasn’t what life was for, not a rut.<\/span><\/p>\n I said to the old man – my father, my voice laced with defiance,<\/span><\/p>\n “Give me my share, give me my inheritance, it’s time for my own reliance.”<\/span><\/p>\n I didn’t see the worry cloud my father\u2019s brow, the hurt in his eyes,<\/span><\/p>\n I just wanted the clink of coins, a ticket to paradise, (in my mind’s disguise).<\/span><\/p>\n With the fortune I got; food came in like mountain, wine flowed like water,<\/span><\/p>\n With lavish friends I made merry, it seemed like an unending laughter.<\/span><\/p>\n I was living the high life, with fair-weather friends, a fleeting grin.<\/span><\/p>\n And then I blew through the fortune, faster than a desert wind.<\/span><\/p>\n I woke up one morning, belly grumbling, pockets bare,<\/span><\/p>\n The jollification faded, replaced by a cold, empty stare.<\/span><\/p>\n I fed swine for scraps, a far cry from silk and wine (Luxury and Indulgence).<\/span><\/p>\n I became a Prodigal child, brought low, a sorry state and mind.<\/span><\/p>\n Watch the video version here \ud83d\udc47<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
