{"id":7073320,"date":"2026-10-02T20:20:16","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T20:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7073320"},"modified":"2026-10-02T20:20:16","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T20:20:16","slug":"the-iowa-state-fair-but-make-it-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7073320","title":{"rendered":"The Iowa State Fair, But Make It Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<h3>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           Another Iowa State Fair has come and gone&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span><br \/>\n  <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            If you&#8217;re anything like us you&#8217;re still thinking about it.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           The Iowa State Fair 2026 brought us 11 days of everything we love about this time of year in Des Moines<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span><br \/>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            \u2014from the barns and agriculture to concerts, competitions, foods we never would have thought to deep fry, and all the best traditions in between.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           Naturally, we started seeing art everywhere. So, in honor of another year at the Iowa State Fair, we pulled a few pieces from the gallery that remind us of some of our favorite fair traditions.<\/p>\n<p>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<h3>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           A Trip Through the Barns<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span><br \/>\n  <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            It wouldn&#8217;t be the Iowa State Fair without a trip through the livestock barns.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span><br \/>\n    <a href=\"\/aly-ytterberg\"><\/p>\n<p>           Aly Ytterberg&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><br \/>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           s &#8216;As The Days Go By&#8217; gives us that familiar feeling, with open fields, a red barn, and a landscape that feels right at home here in Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irp.cdn-website.com\/429e7970\/dms3rep\/multi\/Ytterberg_AsTheDaysGoBy.png\" alt=\"&apos;As The Days Go By&apos; by Aly Ytterberg\" \/><br \/>\n  <span><br \/>\n  <\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            It captures a quiet side of agricultural traditions that have been part of the fair for generations, and a view that feels unmistakably Midwestern.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<h3>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           Night Time at the Grandstand<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span><br \/>\n  <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            Home for Iowa State Fair concerts with bright lights, loud music, thousands of people, and an energy you can feel from your seat<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span><br \/>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            \u2014the Grandstand is a little chaotic in the best way.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            &#8216;Chaos to Calm&#8217; by<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span><br \/>\n    <a href=\"\/sarah-grant\"><\/p>\n<p>           Sarah Grant<\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><br \/>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            feels like the perfect match for the Iowa State Fair concerts, with layers of expressive color, gestural marks, and movement that captures the excitement of a night spent seeing your favorite artist on a summer night at the fair.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    \n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irp.cdn-website.com\/429e7970\/dms3rep\/multi\/Chaos-to-Calm.png\" alt=\"&apos;Chaos to Calm&apos; by local Iowa artist<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span><br \/>\n    <a href=\"\/bill-luchsinger\"><\/p>\n<p>           Bill Luchsinger<\/p>\n<p>    <\/a><br \/>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            captures that part of the fair that goes beyond the fairgrounds<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span><br \/>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           \u2014colorful rows of crops and trees stretching across the landscape.<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irp.cdn-website.com\/429e7970\/dms3rep\/multi\/DSC_1908.png\" alt=\"&apos;Trees and Crop&apos; by Bill Luchsinger\" \/><br \/>\n  <span><br \/>\n  <\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            It&#8217;s a familiar view for Iowans, and a reminder of where so many of our favorite fair traditions begin.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<h3>\n    <span><\/p>\n<p>           The Homegrown Goodies<\/p>\n<p>    <\/span><br \/>\n  <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div data-rss-type=\"text\">\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            Of course, we couldn&#8217;t talk about the Iowa State Fair without talking about food.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n    <span><br \/>\n      <span><\/p>\n<p>            From the classic fair food to the the fruits, veggies, and other homegrown goods entered into competitions each year, food is a huge part of what makes the fair so fun.<\/p>\n<p>      <\/span><br \/>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irp.cdn-website.com\/429e7970\/dms3rep\/multi\/Juicy-Tomato.png\" alt=\"&apos;Juicy Tomato&apos;
