The mobile racer reached more than 276 million downloads and generated an estimated $268.5 million for Nintendo over its seven-year run, according to figures reported by Video Games Chronicle.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mario Kart Tour is no longer playable after seven years<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nintendo announced in July that players would lose access after the September 29 deadline. That cutoff has now passed, and players can no longer log into the game\u2019s servers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Released in September 2019, <strong>Mario Kart Tour<\/strong> brought Nintendo\u2019s racing series to mobile as a free-to-play spin-off. Its closure ends access to a game that spent seven years building a substantial roster and course library.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The mobile racer reached more than 276 million downloads<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At shutdown, the game had 267 playable characters, including alternate outfits, alongside 340 karts, 238 gliders and 546 courses. These are estimates, not totals reported by Nintendo; the headline figure of $270 million rounds that revenue estimate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The game made money through microtransactions, including its controversial gacha Pipe system, which Nintendo removed in 2022. The shift in monetization is part of a wider conversation around <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/love-and-deepspace-could-greed-be-the-downfall-of-the-beloved-female-friendly-game-players-are-tired-of-the-gacha-mechanic\">gacha mechanics in free-to-play games<\/a>, where spending systems can become a defining part of the player experience.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A seven-year live-service run ends<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AppMagic estimates put monthly revenue at roughly $5\u20136 million for most of 2020 and 2021. By the time Nintendo announced the shutdown in July 2026, that figure had fallen to around $650,000 per month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The numbers offer a clear picture of both the game\u2019s reach and its changing commercial fortunes, without making the estimated totals official company figures.
