That sequence is beginning to change.<\/p>\n

In competitive luxury markets, some buyers are bringing designers into the process much earlier, sometimes before an offer has even been made. Rather than viewing interior design as something that happens after the transaction, buyers are using designers as advisors to understand what a property could become and, crucially, what it might cost to get there.<\/p>\n

For homes requiring substantial remodeling, that information can materially change the purchasing decision.<\/p>\n

Designers See a Different Property<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A buyer walking through a home might notice an outdated kitchen, an awkward living room, or finishes that don\u2019t suit their taste.<\/p>\n

A designer is likely to look beyond those immediate cosmetic details.<\/p>\n

They may be considering whether the floor plan can be improved, how natural light moves through the property, whether walls can realistically be altered, where furniture will sit, and how existing materials could work within a wider scheme.<\/p>\n

Remote Buyers Are Changing the Process Too<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Relocation has also made remote design consultations more relevant.<\/p>\n

An out-of-state buyer may only have a limited window to view properties in person. In some cases, a designer can review listing photographs, floor plans, videos, and measurements before the buyer travels.<\/p>\n
