Here\u2019s what to know.<\/a>,\u201d <em>Boston.com<\/em>, September 28, 2026. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe health of democracy is on many people\u2019s minds because of all the different attacks that we\u2019ve been seeing from the federal government,\u201d Jonathan Cohn, policy director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.progressivemass.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Progressive Mass<\/a>, told Boston.com. \u201cQuestion 4 is a great way for Massachusetts to assert our support for protecting and expanding the right to vote.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s kind of damning that it has taken Massachusetts this long because it really is a policy that the Legislature should have passed,\u201d Cohn said, noting that Massachusetts and Rhode Island are the only New England states that have not implemented same-day voter registration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cohn pointed to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.progressivemass.com\/ma-house-votes-act-recap-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016 Government Accountability Office report<\/a> showing a 5 percent increase in turnout when same-day registration is implemented.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cohn also noted that people moving between Massachusetts cities may have to travel back to their former polling location if they do not vote by mail.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Samantha Genzer, \u201cQuestion 4 could allow Mass. voters to register on Election Day.
