Joint employment can mean different things to different people. For stoners, it could mean a groovy new job selling weed at the dispensary. For rheumatologists, it could mean hiring a new medical assistant to check elbows and knees.<\/p>\n

But for most everyone else, it has nothing to do with joints at all. Joint employment just means that two companies both serve as the employer of an employee. <\/p>\n

Last week, the Department of Labor (DOL) proposed a new test for determining whether joint employment exists under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). <\/p>\n
