I opened a wedding website. Dense, multi-page, the kind of thing that looks simple until you start clicking around. Registry. Travel itinerary. Details scattered across pages that all needed to turn into decisions. I could feel the mental calculation starting: what do I buy, what do I book, what am I going to miss?<\/p>\n
I didn\u2019t grind through it by hand.<\/p>\n
I used a Chrome extension and let the browser AI scrape the content. Then I asked for a summary of the requirements, a list of purchases, and a step-by-step to-do list. That was the whole move. Ten to fifteen minutes of mental energy I didn\u2019t have to spend, and a structured game plan instead of a pile of tabs.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s the Wedding Website Protocol. Next time you\u2019re staring at a complex site you keep meaning to go through, try it. A wedding site, a travel itinerary, any dense informational page that\u2019s currently sitting on your brain.<\/p>\n
Keep the AI on the page you\u2019re already on<\/h2>\n
Have you been copying text out of a website, jumping to a separate chat window, pasting, waiting, then copying the answer back?<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a lot of hopping for a summary.<\/p>\n
The fix is browser-native AI. Gemini in Chrome. Copilot in Edge. Extensions that sit next to the work so you never leave the tab. You can summarize a page, draft an email, or review what\u2019s on your screen without the context switch. That\u2019s what I did with the wedding website. The extension summarized it into a to-do list and itinerary on the spot.<\/p>\n
Install a browser-based AI extension if you don\u2019t have one. Then run the protocol on a site you\u2019re already navigating. Ask for the summary of requirements, the purchase list, and the to-do list. You\u2019ll feel the 10-15 minutes you got back.<\/p>\n
I spent 1.5 years chatting with it<\/h2>\n
<\/span><\/p>\nI used to ask AI what to do. How should I follow up on this meeting? What belongs on the to-do list? After 1.5 years of using this stuff deeply, I was still mostly chatting. Time to stop playing.<\/p>\n
Chatting asks the AI to tell you what to do. Automating asks the AI to do the task for you.<\/p>\n
Once you bring in agents and workflows, you stop collecting advice and start receiving execution. Depending on the scale of the deployment, that can reclaim 10-60 hours per week. Wide range, I know. A small setup returns less. A bigger one returns more. The direction doesn\u2019t change.<\/p>\n
So pick one repetitive task you currently chat about. Ask the AI how it can execute that task on your behalf.<\/p>\n
Are you asking it what to do, or asking it to do the work?<\/p>\n
Three bots, two people<\/h2>\n
I had three bots on a two-person call.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a little funny. I\u2019m aware.<\/p>\n
The recording is fine. The useful part is the post-meeting admin running without me sitting there doing it. Follow-up emails. CRM updates. Project management tickets. Internal documentation. That\u2019s the work that normally lands on you the second the call ends, and it\u2019s the work a transcript can feed if you treat the transcript as a raw asset. The transcript is the input. The email, the ticket, the CRM update, and the internal doc are the outputs. That\u2019s how a passive record becomes a workflow engine.<\/p>\n
Set up one meeting bot. One. Point it at a single output: auto-generate a follow-up email, or auto-assign a task. Let that run before you try to automate everything else.<\/p>\n
The goal is that you forget it\u2019s running<\/h2>\n
Do you actually have AI in your routines, or do you just visit it?<\/p>\n
The useful version sits inside work you already do. High-leverage tasks get handled while you stay on high-value work. Often you won\u2019t even know the AI is running. The follow-up is drafted. The to-do list is built. You didn\u2019t open a window to go play. After 1.5 years, the move that matters is systematic integration. Get it into the routine so it works in the background.<\/p>\n
Audit how you\u2019re using AI right now. Toy, or background worker?<\/p>\n
Toy mode looks like this. You open a chat, try a prompt, close the tab, feel like you did something, then go perform the task yourself. Background mode looks like the wedding site turning into a to-do list without you assembling it, or the meeting turning into a follow-up without you writing it from scratch.<\/p>\n
If you have to remember to go talk to it, you\u2019re still in toy mode.<\/p>\n
You have to give it access<\/h2>\n
Here\u2019s the thing. To let an AI agent send emails or update a CRM, you have to grant it access to your data. Security is a trade-off for execution. Connecting AI to your email account raises real privacy concerns. Take those seriously.<\/p>\n
The productivity gain of having the AI act on your behalf often outweighs the risk, provided you\u2019re comfortable with the platform\u2019s security standards. If you\u2019re not comfortable, don\u2019t connect it. If you have high-security needs, local servers are a niche alternative.<\/p>\n
Are you actually comfortable with the standards of the platform you\u2019re using? Evaluate that trade-off on the tools you already have. Then make the call.<\/p>\n
One site, today<\/h2>\n
Open a complex website you\u2019re currently navigating. If you don\u2019t have a browser AI yet, install Gemini in Chrome or Copilot in Edge first. Then scrape the page and ask for a summary of requirements, a list of purchases, and a step-by-step to-do list.<\/p>\n
One site. Don\u2019t overhaul anything else today.<\/p>\n
