The decision has turned out to be a massive mistake, as most fans had pointed out in the summer.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-Southampton ace has already missed three games this season due to injury, and it is clear that <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2025\/11\/30\/every-danish-player-to-ever-play-for-man-united-301693\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick Dorgu<\/a> is not the best replacement.<\/p>\n<p>Harry Amass is not considered to be ready for the step up, which means Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot are likely to be rotated frequently as the season progresses.<\/p>\n<h5>United need a new left-back<\/h5>\n<p>The Red Devils were linked with a move for Lewis Hall but United\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/07\/03\/lewis-hall-signing-put-on-ice-as-ineos-target-midfielders-first-312295\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">single-minded focus on revamping the midfield<\/a> meant that by the time they approached Newcastle, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/09\/02\/leaked-the-unrealistic-figure-man-united-were-willing-to-pay-for-lewis-hall-314950\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magpies shut the door<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-time English league champions plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/08\/28\/lewis-hall-man-united-to-use-tried-and-tested-formula-to-land-newcastle-talisman-314616\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">go back in for the Englishman next summer<\/a>, which is why they opted to keep their powder dry even when Alejandro Balde, <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/09\/01\/man-united-plotting-deadline-day-signing-of-spanish-talent-he-can-solve-two-of-carricks-biggest-headaches-314872\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jorge Salinas<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/08\/29\/man-united-reluctant-to-spend-big-to-sign-bundesliga-ace-despite-gaping-hole-in-squad-314715\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Raum<\/a> were there for the taking.<\/p>\n<p>United\u2019s co-owners have realised the folly of their ways, which is why <a href=\"https:\/\/sportwitness.co.uk\/decisive-january-manchester-united-plan-to-address-missed-transfer-in-winter-window\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sport Witness<\/a> have now relayed <em>Mundo Deportivo<\/em>\u2018s report that the Old Trafford side are keen to go back in for the Barcelona ace, who was once described as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/soccer\/fc-barcelona\/xavi-hurls-praise-at-defender-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revelation<\/a>\u201d by former boss Xavi.<\/p>\n<p>United\u2019s loan offer did not impress the Catalans, with the 22-year-old also keen to stay and fight for his place.<\/p>\n<h5>Alejandro Balde back on the radar<\/h5>\n<p>However, Hansi Flick does not seem to rate him, with the Spaniard managing only a 12-minute cameo so far this term.<\/p>\n<p>Which is why the report states that it will be a \u201cDecisive January\u201d for Alejandro Balde with United holding a \u201cfirm interest\u201d in him.<\/p>\n<p>The former Bayern Munich boss has made it clear to the La Masia graduate that Jo\u00e3o Cancelo and Xavi Espart are ahead of him in the pecking order. Flick\u2019s reasoning is that he noticed a \u201cstagnation in his performance\u201d last season<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper report further adds, \u201cThe winter transfer window presents a moment that could change Balde\u2019s perception of his future if he doesn\u2019t see an increase in playing time under Flick. United are keeping a close eye on him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether Barcelona will now be open to a loan deal remains to be seen, or if INEOS will now move on from Hall, who reports suggest could be <a href=\"https:\/\/thepeoplesperson.com\/2026\/09\/06\/man-uniteds-dream-target-agrees-new-deal-ineos-in-a-pickle-regarding-next-summers-plans-315173\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">staying put<\/a> at St James\u2019 Park.
