The Real Cost of Not Knowing<\/b><\/h2>\n

Regenerative agriculture has done a lot of good for a lot of operations, but somewhere along the way it also turned into a marketing word. Biological inoculants. Soil-boosting amendments. Proprietary blends with names that sound like they were focus-grouped by a pharmaceutical company. Some of it works. A lot of it doesn’t. And without a working understanding of how energy actually moves through a plant, how water actually moves through a landscape, and how nutrients actually move through soil biology, you’re stuck taking someone else’s word for it.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you farm or ranch, you already know the feeling. Someone shows up with a jug, a bag<\/span>,<\/span> or a slide deck promising to fix your soil, your yields or your bottom line. They’ll throw around big words like “photosynthesis\u201d or \u201cfacultative anaerobes” and even have a study or two to wave around as proof their product works. Some of these products and practices are genuinely good, but a lot of them aren’t. So, how\u2019s a producer to know what\u2019s worth spending money on and what isn\u2019t? The answer: education. The better informed that farmers and ranchers are, the less likely they are to waste hard-earned money.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is why I put together<\/span> The Essential Cycles of Regenerative Agriculture<\/b><\/a>, a seven-part webinar series through Understanding Ag and ACRES USA, based around the 4 Ecosystem Processes (Energy, Water, Nutrient, Life). The more you understand these processes for yourself, the less you have to outsource your thinking and decision-making to someone else. You can begin to look at a product or a recommendation and ask the question that actually matters: is this \u201csilver bullet\u201d actually addressing the real limiting factor on my operation, or is it a solution in search of a problem? That single question may save you more money over your career than any input ever could.<\/span><\/p>\n
