Unai Emery had pushed him to the fringes of the squad during the 2025 summer window, and he was even offered to local rivals Birmingham City. Fast forward to now, and he\u2019s become one of Emery\u2019s most trusted attacking figures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>Why Villa Are Moving To Secure His Future<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The 29-year-old\u2019s existing deal runs until June 2027, with Villa holding the option to extend by a further year. Even so, the club appear unwilling to let their in-form playmaker drift towards the final months of his contract without settling matters first. Signed from Norwich City for \u00a333 million back in 2021, Buendia has rediscovered the form that once made him one of the Championship\u2019s most exciting talents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>A Season To Remember<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">His resurgence has been built on genuine quality rather than luck. He struck a memorable goal in Villa\u2019s Europa League final win over Freiburg last May, the club\u2019s first trophy since 1996, and has kept up that momentum into the current campaign, netting again in the 3-2 win over Tottenham before the international break.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>My Take<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">What\u2019s most striking here isn\u2019t just the football, it\u2019s the character behind it. Plenty of players who find themselves frozen out simply fade away or push for an exit. Buendia did neither. He worked, waited, and let his performances do the talking. Emery deserves credit too, for giving a seemingly discarded player another chance.
