We buy and sell preowned watches.<br \/>Yes, many of them are in <em>like-new<\/em> condition, and some even still unwrapped, but technically and legally, they are all second-hand goods.<br \/>If you are an existing customer or a long-time subscriber, you already know how proud I am of what I do.<br \/>Finding fine preowned stock at the right price is extremely difficult.<br \/>\nMy service to watch collectors is highly valued, and over the past 30<br \/>\nyears, I\u2019ve sold more than 10,000 high-grade preowned watches. That is<br \/>\nactually a conservative estimate.<br \/>The bottom line is simple:<strong> <\/strong>I know what I\u2019m doing, I\u2019ve been doing it for decades, and I\u2019m happy to continue selling second-hand watches.<br \/>All watches offered are 100% genuine. Selling replicas or fake watches<br \/>\nis illegal in Australia\u2014and even if it weren\u2019t, I would never sell<br \/>\nfakes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>A common question: How old is the watch?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before I answer, let me make one important point: <strong>to me, age is almost irrelevant.\u00a0<\/strong>What truly matters is <strong>condition<\/strong>. A five-year-old watch in unworn, like-new condition is worth <em>more<\/em><br \/>\n than a one-year-old watch that has been heavily worn. However, to a<br \/>\nnovice collector\u2014or especially to a first-time buyer\u2014this may not be<br \/>\nobvious. It\u2019s natural to focus on age: <em>the newer, the better.\u00a0<\/em>Most<br \/>\n buyers are happy to learn otherwise, and after a bit of \u201ceducation\u201d and<br \/>\n a few examples, their focus shifts to condition. However, some buyers<br \/>\nremain fixated on age, and age only. If that\u2019s you, you\u2019ll be better off<br \/>\n buying a brand-new watch from an authorised dealer. Nothing beats a<br \/>\nbrand-new watch.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Determining the age of a preowned watch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The only reliable and legally valid way to determine the age of a<br \/>\npreowned watch is by referring to the date of sale recorded on the<br \/>\nwarranty card\u2014filled in by the manufacturer or authorised dealer.<br \/>In reality, watches on the preowned market typically fall into one of three categories:\n<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; mso-line-height-rule: exactly;\"><strong>Watch only<\/strong> \u2013 no warranty card or receipt\/invoice (\u201cno papers\u201d).<\/li>\n<li style=\"-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; mso-line-height-rule: exactly;\"><strong>Watch with warranty card<\/strong> \u2013 but no date of sale recorded (\u201copen papers\u201d).<\/li>\n<li style=\"-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; mso-line-height-rule: exactly;\"><strong>Watch with warranty card and date of sale recorded<\/strong> (\u201cwith papers\u201d).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Here is an example open papers warranty and one showing the actual date of sale:\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Especially if you are new to watch collecting.
