Rialto\u2019s philosophy aligns perfectly with what I share with <strong>you<\/strong> every week. <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A focus on detailed, long-term retirement planning. <\/li>\n<li>Keeping investing simple and low-cost. <\/li>\n<li>Fiduciary and fee-only. <\/li>\n<li>Not only serving our clients, but educating them.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2026but I\u2019m anxious about the change, too. With two girls under two years old at home, this isn\u2019t the simple path, per se. I\u2019m making this big change, in large part, because my wife Kelly believes in me. Rialto Wealth has no shareholders, no private equity ownership. We are 100% employee-owned. There\u2019s no incentive to push proprietary products, no far-away owners pressuring us on quotas.<\/li>\n<li>Financial planners can bring a lot of expertise to their clients \u2013 but that comes after a deliberate choice: <strong>putting service above sales<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<li>Complex investments sound sexy, I know. But so did cigarettes (at least, for many decades). Not coincidentally, both have similar results: higher long-term costs and worse long-term outcomes. While some advisors push fancy, complex products on unsuspecting clients, the fact remains that simplicity beats complexity. I\u2019d much rather follow Jason Zweig\u2019s <em>second <\/em>way of making a living: <em><strong>\u201cTell the truth to those who want the truth.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/jasonzweig.com\/three-ways-to-get-paid\/\">I\u2019ll let you look up the first way.<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m excited to <strong>keep my client count smaller, to focus more energy on each client<\/strong>. While working with hundreds of clients might increase profit margins, I\u2019m fine with sacrificing some profit margin to better serve clients.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rialto\u2019s philosophy emphasizes our clients and our employees. It might mean you\u2019re retired. It might mean you hope to retire in 2 or 5 or 10 years. But retirement is the big goal you\u2019re planning for. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Investing <\/strong><em><strong>and<\/strong><\/em> <strong>planning<\/strong> \u2013 both are vital. Retirement brings many interesting conversations about withdrawal strategies, income and tax planning, Social Security, healthcare and Medicare, IRMAA, and RMDs. If you have these questions, we\u2019re a good fit. <\/li>\n<li>Our clients want an <strong>ongoing, year-over-year<\/strong> <strong>relationship<\/strong>. They are not looking for a one-time thought partner.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Our ideal clients buy into a<strong> low-cost, academically rigorous investment philosophy<\/strong>. If you want your advisor to beat the market and pick hot stocks \u2013 we won\u2019t be a good fit. If you want a low-cost, simple, effective portfolio instead, let\u2019s talk. <\/li>\n<li>Speaking of costs\u2026our ideal clients may have looked at what a traditional advisor relationship would cost. <strong>You would rather pay considerably less<\/strong>, but you still expect expertise and good service.\u00a0We aren\u2019t cheap.
