At the end of my volunteer experience as a Wildlife Warrior<\/a>, I had the chance to visit\u00a0the Australia Zoo, <\/span>see its unique animals and learn about the many wildlife conservation projects they care for. Below is my guide on visiting the Australia Zoo in Beerwah near Brisbane.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interesting Australia Zoo Facts<\/h2>\n

The Australia Zoo<\/strong>, in Brisbane, is the most well-known in Australia because of its founder, Steve Irwin. <\/span><\/strong>He<\/span>\u00a0is a living legend with his legendary commitment and work in Australian wildlife and wilderness conservation. After Steve Irwin died in 2006, his work at the Australia Zoo has been proudly continued by his wife, Terri, his kids, Bindi and Robert, and many Wildlife Warriors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Almost 600 people actively care for endangered Australian animals and educate and support many local and international wildlife conservation projects. On the Australia Zoo website, you can also learn about Steve Irwin\u2019s fascinating life story\u00a0as a great Wildlife Warrior.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How to get to the Australia Zoo<\/h2>\n

The Australia Zoo is located in Beerwah<\/span>, 80km north of Brisbane<\/strong><\/a> and 25 km from the Sunshine Coast. You can catch the train to Landsborough from Brisbane, or if you prefer to be independent and use a car, it is a one-hour drive from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.\u00a0The Zoo\u00a0is pretty busy during school holidays and weekends, so booking your tickets online will save you lots of time at the entrance.<\/p>\n

The official Australia Zoo website provides all the daily shows and timetable information. You can also put together your itinerary and print it out. From their website, you can also learn about all the conservation projects, how to adopt an animal, donate, and make a difference in the world<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Steven Irwin said:<\/strong> \u201cWe don\u2019t own the planet Earth; we belong to it. And we must share it with our wildlife.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

How much time do you need to visit?<\/h3>\n

I would plan 6-8 hours at least. If you only have a half-day, you must choose the areas since you cannot fit everything in 4 hours. That\u2019s why I recommend visiting on weekdays possibly.<\/p>\n

The Australia Zoo Tickets<\/span><\/strong> are not inexpensive. Single entry tickets cost 59,00 AUD<\/strong>, but discounts are available for families, students and elderly people. If you are planning your Australian holidays in South Queensland, it is worth visiting the Australia Zoo in your trip itinerary.<\/p>\n

One of the primary reasons international visitors come to Australia is to see its unique native animals<\/a>, but the chances to spot them in the wild are limited. The Australia Zoo is a great chance to learn about Australian wildlife.<\/p>\n

What To Expect From The Australia Zoo Experience <\/h2>\n

I visited the Australia Zoo on Anzac Day<\/span>.<\/strong> On this public holiday, the Australia Zoo is open only 4 hours in the afternoon. I was not aware of how huge the zoo is, but by looking at the zoo map, I soon realized that I had to make a choice and pick some of the areas.<\/p>\n

The Wildlife Warriors Show<\/h3>\n
\"Australiazoocrocshow\"<\/figure>\n

I was happy that the <\/strong>Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Show<\/strong> was planned for that day at the Crocoseum. This is the best part. You will witness the unique and impressive interaction of the wildlife warriors with animals, see colourful birds soaring over the arena, and see <\/span>herons and birds of prey swooping on food.<\/p>\n

The Croc Show<\/h3>\n
\"Bindi\"<\/figure>\n

But this is just the beginning of the Show. The highlight of the Croceseum is the Croc Show<\/strong>, the fantastic interaction while feeding Saltwater Crocodiles<\/span>. The Irwin family, Terri and Bindi, are the main protagonists, with a beautiful crew of wildlife warriors. I recommend planning a whole day at the Australia Zoo to make the most of your visit and have the time to see it all.\u00a0 If you only have a few hours, ensure you do not miss out on this great show! <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Croc Show<\/strong> is the hit of this zoo. It is usually held every day at midday; on<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Anzac Day<\/strong>, it was scheduled soon after the opening. You\u2019d better check out the timetables on the Australia Zoo website at the time of your visit. Unfortunately, the photos cannot convey the excitement. A video is probably the best medium to bring the atmosphere to life. The music, the dance, the performance of the Wildlife Warriors and Bindi\u2019s courage and enthusiasm are precious. Following the footprints of Steve Irwin, Bindi has been actively involved, together with her mother, Terri, in continuing her father\u2019s work. Listening to Bindi\u2019s adventures and the wildlife encounters she had was touching.<\/p>\n

What Animals will you see in the Australia Zoo?<\/h3>\n

I had to make a choice; I found myself rushing from one place to the next. I was eager to see the wombats, my favourite Australian marsupial, which is not so easy to spot in the wild. I only saw it a couple of times in Tasmania. Some giant wombats were strolling around on the green fields; below, you can see a photo of a cute little wombat.<\/p>\n

From there, I rushed to the Wetlands to see some beautiful birds and came across the Echidna House, where they held\u00a0a show. I spent the rest of my time walking around and taking pictures of lovely red and grey kangaroos and cute wallabies. Kangaroos are the joy of thousands of kids \u201cand adults who visit the Australia Zoo every year. They are lovely animals, are happy to be hand-fed, and like posing for a photo with you! While approaching kangaroos, be sure you know a few simple rules for feeding them while respecting their privacy.<\/p>\n

As said, while visiting the Australia Zoo, you will come across several boards with great information about Australian native endangered animals or species that are threatened in the world. At the Australia Zoo, there are several great shops where you can buy all kinds of souvenirs; some are also unique to this place, and it\u2019s also an excellent chance to browse and see whether you find something you like to take home.<\/p>\n

Do not leave the Australia Zoo without immortalising yourself through a photo with Irwin\u2019s Family bronze sculpture at the entrance. More sculptures are scattered around the zoo area, including the crocodile sculpture for the joy of kids and more areas where you can take fun photos.\u00a0<\/p>\n
