\nfrom the front structure to the rear section as well as decoupling
\nelastomer mounts between suspension and body contribute to
\noutstanding noise and vibration comfort. The drive units feature
\nrotor magnets arranged in a double-V configuration, with stator
\nwindings using so-called chorded coils. Both measures deliver
\nexceptionally quiet yet efficient propulsion.<\/p>\n
Rapid
\ncharging: recharge up to 255 kilometres in just ten minutes<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
One of
\nthe highlights of the new electric architecture is the 800-volt
\nsystem. It maximises efficiency and performance and can significantly
\nreduce the charging time in conjunction with the new battery
\ngeneration.<\/p>\n
A range
\nof up to 255 \u2013 215 km can be recharged within 10 minutes according
\nto WLTP. DC fast charging is supported at up to 320 kW, while the
\non-board AC charger enables charging at up to 22 kW. An electric
\nsocket flap further enhances charging convenience.<\/p>\n
The
\nall-new electric GLC uses a lithium-ion battery with a usable energy
\ncontent of 85 kWh. The cells have anodes in which silicon oxide is
\nmixed with graphite. The volumetric energy density of the cell
\nchemistry is 680 Wh\/l. The proportion of cobalt has been further
\nreduced. The new battery generation has not only been optimised for
\nefficiency, performance, costs and scalability, but was also
\ndeveloped with maintenance and repair in mind. The
\nelectronics\/electrical unit is accessible and replaceable from below
\nin the workshop. This enables quick diagnosis and, if required,
\ntargeted replacement of electronic components \u2013 without dismantling
\nthe entire battery unit. Additionally, the battery cover is screwed
\nrather than glued. This design results in a clear advantage: The
\nbattery remains modular and service-friendly \u2013 a decisive factor
\nfor the long-term operation of electrified vehicle fleets.<\/p>\n
The
\nhigh-voltage battery used in the all-new electric GLC is based on an
\nintelligent modular and highly integrated battery architecture that
\nwas introduced with the all-new electric CLA. This architecture
\ndeveloped by MercedesBenz allows the flexible deployment of
\nhigh-voltage batteries for different vehicle types. This consistent
\nmodularisation reduces validation effort and creates significant
\nsynergies in development, validation and logistics. Another advantage
\nis that the modular battery architecture enables highly flexible
\nmanufacturing. High-voltage batteries for the electric CLA and
\nelectric GLC and future high- voltage batteries based on this
\narchitecture can be manufactured on the same production line.<\/p>\n
Confident
\nbrake-pedal feel and excellent recuperation performance<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
The
\nall-new electric GLC features a new One-Box braking system. It
\nensures a consistent, confident and transparent brake-pedal feel at
\nall times, regardless of whether braking is performed by recuperation
\nor friction braking. The brake system combines the previously
\nseparate components of brake booster, master cylinder, and ESP\u00ae
\ncontrol in a single compact module.<\/p>\n
For
\nreasons of efficiency, almost all braking is carried out via
\nrecuperation. Recuperation power is up to approximately 300 kW,
\nallowing the all-new electric GLC to brake electrically to a
\nstandstill and recover kinetic energy. Drivers have four recuperation
\nlevels available: D- (maximum recuperation level), D (standard
\nrecuperation), D+ (no recuperation) and D Auto (intelligent
\nrecuperation). Recuperation via the brake pedal is always active.<\/p>\n
In D-,
\ndrivers can enjoy a \u201cone-pedal feeling\u201d. When they take their
\nfoot off the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerates purely
\nelectrically and with up to 3 m\/s\u00b2 with sufficient force that the
\nhydraulic brake system is not needed in over 99 percent of cases. The
\nstrong deceleration means more recovered energy and thus ultimately a
\nlonger range. Even in winter road conditions, recuperation is
\npossible.<\/p>\n
The
\nall-new GLC – safety and comfort in perfect harmony<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
The
\nall-new electric GLC comes with extensive safety equipment and the
\nDistance Assist DISTRONIC. Technical details include up to ten
\ncameras, five radar sensors, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a
\nwater-cooled high-performance computer with sufficient power reserves
\nfor future functions and regular over-the- air updates. An MBUX
\ndashcam provides added peace of mind on every journey.<\/p>\n
Mercedes-Benz

Intuitive
\noperation: the new steering wheel brings back the rocker and roller<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
The new
\nsteering wheel of the all-new electric GLC offers improved ergonomics
\nand even better intuitive control thanks to the combination of haptic
\nand capacitive elements. MercedesBenz has reintroduced a rocker
\nswitch for the speed limiter and DISTRONIC, along with a roller
\nswitch for volume control. The capacitive switch panels are
\nseamlessly integrated and provide haptic tactile aids for better
\norientation. In addition, some functions have been removed from the
\ncontrol panel for a better overview and ease of use. As a result, the
\nfinger pad to control the driver display has been made significantly
\nlarger and is therefore easier to use.<\/p>\n

Extensive
\nsafety equipment<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
The
\nsafety concept for the all-new electric GLC is based on an
\nintelligently engineered bodyshell with an exceptionally rigid
\npassenger cell. Crash structures made from a variety of steel alloys
\nare designed to deform in a controlled manner, while the restraint
\nsystems \u2013 seat belts and up to eleven airbags \u2013 are precisely
\ncalibrated to this structure. In the event of a collision, systems
\nfor situation-specific occupant protection can be activated. These
\ninclude the centre airbag, which serves to avoid injuries caused by
\ninteraction between the driver and passenger in the event of a
\nside-on collision. A knee bag is now also available for the passenger
\ncomplemented by sidebags in the rear.<\/p>\n
With
\nPRE-SAFE\u00ae, MercedesBenz vehicles can react to hazards before an
\naccident occurs. Its functions include closing the windows and
\nsunroof in critical situations before a potential impact,
\npre-tensioning the seat belts with reversible belt tensioners, or, if
\nthe passenger seat is equipped with memory, moving it into a more
\nupright position.<\/p>\n
New
\nhigh-end seats for even greater comfort<\/u><\/b>The new
\nseats transform every journey into a relaxing experience and ensure
\nthat driver and passengers arrive refreshed, even after many
\nkilometres. All seats are certified with the German AGR seal from
\n\u201cAktion Gesunder R\u00fccken\u201d (Organisation for Healthy Backs).
\nComfort and sports seats are now more clearly differentiated: the
\nsports seat in integral-seat style features higher side-bolsters for
\nenhanced lateral support. Both seat types incorporate secondary
\nmaterials throughout their construction \u2013 the seat foam contains
\naround 30 percent recycled content using the mass-balance approach.<\/span><\/p>\nEmotional
\nModes: for a moment of reflection<\/b><\/u>A
\ncrackling campfire, impressively staged on the large display of the
\nall-new seamless MBUX<\/span><\/p>\nHYPERSCREEN,
\nor a lively aquarium with darting fish and circling sharks \u2013 in the
\nall-new electric GLC, for the first time, Emotional Modes can be
\nselected when the vehicle is stationary. Here, too, it offers a
\nholistic experience by activating vehicle functions relevant to the
\nchosen Emotional Mode (for example, heating with the open-fire mode).<\/p>\n
MB.CHARGE
\nPublic: integrated digital charging service<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
With the
\ndigital extra MB.CHARGE Public, Mercedes-Benz bundles all public
\ncharging functions and offer customers numerous exclusive benefits.
\nWith just one charging contract 10 , they have access to one of the
\nlargest charging networks in the world and can charge in the usual
\nuser-friendly way. In the all-new electric GLC, authentication at the
\ncharging stations takes place via the MercedesBenz app. Each charging
\nprocess is automatically billed via MB.CHARGE Public. MercedesBenz
\nalso makes maximum cost\u00a0transparency
\nat public charging stations possible. Before charging, users can view
\nthe specific costs per kilowatt hour or per minute as well as the
\nexpected total costs for a full charge on the MBUX display or in he
\nMercedes-Benz app.<\/span><\/p>\n9

Convenient
\nreservation of charging stations and intelligent navigation<\/p>\n
Mercedes-Benz
\nNavigation with Electric Intelligence plans the fastest and most
\ncomfortable route \u2013including
\ncharging stops \u2013 based on numerous factors. It reacts dynamically,
\nfor example, to traffic jams or changes in driving style.
\nMercedesBenz is also continuously refining the energy-usage forecast
\nfor Navigation with Electric Intelligence so that predicted wind
\nconditions along the route will, in future, be accounted for even
\nmore precisely according to vehicle height.<\/span><\/p>\nWhen
\ncalculating a route, the system computes the energy requirement by
\nconsidering topography, routeprofile, ambient temperature, speed and
\nheating\/cooling demand. Additional factors include traffic along the
\nplanned route, as well as available charging stations and their
\ncharging capacity as well as payment options. As a new feature, the
\nenergy prediction also considers additional weather information such
\nas precipitation amounts and snow on the road. The calculation takes
\nplace in the cloud and is combined with onboard data.<\/p>\n
The
\nintelligent navigation detects when a charging stop is required and
\nplans it automatically to optimise overall journey time \u2013 for
\ninstance, two shorter stops at higher power can sometimes be more
\nadvantageous than one longer stop. Moreover, Navigation with Electric
\nIntelligence automatically adjusts the vehicle\u2019s charging settings
\nfor maximum rapid-charging performance along the route \u2013 including
\npre-conditioning the high-voltage battery so that it reaches its
\nideal temperature for fast DC charging at exactly the right moment.
\nLast-minute travellers can manually activate preconditioning.<\/p>\n
Production
\nat the Mercedes-Benz Bremen plant<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
Core
\nsegment models based on the new electric architecture will be built
\nhighly flexibly and net-carbon neutrally 15 within the global
\nMercedes-Benz production network. In addition to Bremen, vehicles of
\nthis segment will also be produced in Kecskem\u00e9t, Hungary, and at
\nBeijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (BBAC) in China. All plants are
\nintegrated into the digital production ecosystem MO360, which is
\nincreasingly evolving into a highly dynamic, AI-focused operating
\nsystem for production. For the first time, humanoid robots will also
\nbe used in the network. With the help of a digital twin, the plants
\nare prepared and converted for the production of the new models
\nhighly efficiently and in a short time. The Mercedes-Benz Operating
\nSystem (MB.OS), which is being used for the first time in the
\nproduction of the new CLA, will be rolled out to further production
\nlines with upcoming production launches.<\/p>\n
The
\nall-new electric GLC will be flexibly produced on the same line as
\nvehicles with conventional\u00a0drivetrains
\nat the Bremen plant. The assembly of the all-new electric GLC takes
\nplace in Hall 9, the largest production hall at the Bremen plant.
\nProduction is net carbon-neutral 11 . The plant is supplied with 100
\npercent green electricity. Several MercedesBenz locations supply the
\nproduction of the all-new electric GLC in Bremen. Electric drive
\nunits come from the Romanian plant Sebes (Star Assembly SRL), the
\nelectric axles from the Hamburg plant, and the batteries from Kamenz
\n(Accumotive GmbH Co. KG).<\/span><\/p>\nMajor
\nprogress in decarbonising the supply chain<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
By
\nimplementing specific carbon reduction measures in the supply chain
\nand during battery charging, carbon savings continuously improve. The
\nall-new electric GLC achieves a two-thirds reduction in carbon
\nfootprint across its entire lifecycle compared to the current
\ncombustion-powered GLC. Mercedes-Benz is consistently implementing
\ncarbon reduction measures for the all-new electric GLC. The company
\nalready sources carbon-reduced aluminium for more than two-thirds of
\nthe vehicle\u2019s aluminium requirements. In addition to the body and
\nsteering knuckles, the aluminium wheels and the battery, including
\nits housing, are made from aluminium that has a carbon footprint
\nreduced by at least 40 percent 12 compared to the conventional import
\nmix. This is achieved by using both renewably generated electricity
\nin the electrolysis process and a high proportion of recycled
\naluminium for production.<\/p>\n
The
\ncarbon footprint of the new battery generation is also reduced by
\napproximately 30 percent per cell compared to conventional production
\nthrough carbon reduction measures in the high-voltage cell. In
\naddition to net carbon-neutral 13 cell production, renewable energy
\nis also used in the production of cathode, anode, and cell housing
\nmaterials.<\/p>\n
Resource
\nconservation through the use of secondary materials<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
The
\nMercedes-Benz Group aims to increasingly decouple its resource
\nconsumption from the growth of its production output and minimise the
\nconsumption of primary resources. Plastics, steel, and aluminium are
\nparticularly important in this regard as they are required in large
\nquantities in vehicle production and are particularly energy and
\nresource intensive.<\/p>\n
Mercedes-Benz
\nCars seeks to limit the amount of primary material and to
\nincreasingly reduce its<\/p>\n
proportion
\nby using secondary materials. For new MercedesBenz vehicles, such as
\nthe all-new electric GLC, the MercedesBenz Group stipulates a minimum
\nproportion of recycled material per focus material in their
\nspecifications.<\/p>\n
As early
\nas the design phase, experts from the specialist departments consider
\nthe composition of the materials, analyse alternatives, use recycled
\nmaterials wherever possible and focus on lightweight construction and
\nrecyclability. This results in vehicles being more resource efficient
\nthroughout their entire lifecycles. A variety of factors are
\nconsidered when deciding on the use of materials. Alongside costs,
\nresource-efficient technologies and the use of alternative materials
\nsuch as secondary materials and renewable raw materials, this also
\nincludes industrialisation options. This involves examining the
\nextent to which development results are transferable to large-scale
\nindustrial production, for example in the use of raw materials.<\/p>\n
The
\nresult of these endeavours is the increased use of secondary
\nmaterials and renewable raw materials on vehicles. One example of
\nthis is the seating system in the all-new electric GLC.<\/p>\n
