In his first interview since Physint<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s publisher change<\/a>, Hideo Kojima said he still respects Sony despite its decision to pull funding for the project. The Kojima Productions boss also dismissed recent reports of Death Stranding<\/a>\u2018s commercial performance, insisting the studio is in \u201ca healthy, profitable state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kojima can\u2019t say if Physint will release on Sony PlayStation platforms following switch to Xbox<\/h2>\n

Speaking to IGN<\/a>, Kojima revealed that although he was blindsided by Sony\u2019s decision to cancel Physint, he harbors no ill will towards the company or any individuals. He didn\u2019t say who ultimately made the decision, but acknowledged that the games industry is in a precarious state overall.<\/p>\n

That said, Kojima implied that his relationship with Sony isn\u2019t what it used to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been working with them for like 30 years\u2026 Mr. Ken Kutaragi, Mr. Hirai, I was close with them,\u201d Kojima said. \u201cBut it\u2019s not like that recently. I realized that, okay, this is the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for recent reports that Death Stranding\u2019s commercial performance led Sony to pull the plug on Physint, Kojima Productions released the following statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing could\u2019ve prepared me for their [Sony\u2019s] decision to step away from the project,\u201d Kojima continued. \u201cSo I thought, \u2018What am I going to do from tomorrow?\u2019 But from my side, I love Sony. And I don\u2019t have any bad feelings against them because I know that it\u2019s a tough time in the game industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kojima confirmed that Xbox will decide Physint\u2019s release platforms as its new publisher.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
