According to Deadline<\/a> (via AV Club<\/a>), here’s what Amazon\/MGM studios says in response to the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Ed Brubaker:<\/p>\n

\u201cHis most sensational allegation \u2014 that Brubaker pointed a functional<\/i> firearm<\/b> at his face<\/i> and pulled the trigger \u2014 is pure invention<\/b>,\u201d the demurrer adds<\/a>. \u201cHad that happened, every person in the room, Noohu included, had a duty to report it and in a post-Rust industry on high alert to firearms, someone would have. That is the conduct of an opportunist timing his leverage, not a victim seeking redress<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The part about the pistol is certainly the most questionable, and if the “plaintiff” did this out of spite, perhaps because he’s trying to paint himself as a victim based on his Islamic background, that is wrong. And after the Alex Baldwin scandal<\/a>, yes, it’s definitely far more believable that film studios are being more careful not to allow live firearms on set. So, while I don’t find Brubaker an appealing writer, and firmly believe he played a big part in bringing down comicdom in more than a quarter century, for now, I will withhold judgement. For all we know, this Noohu is probably a grifter and Islamic victimologist who’s trying to get a bigger piece of the pie, and entirely indiscriminate about whether his target’s also a leftist. That kind of person is not worth listening to, if it turns out he’s filed false complaints.<\/p>\n
