Easy solution: Dump dangerous construction debris in potholes<\/em><\/p>\n The damaged stretch along the Mysuru-Bannur Main Road near the Air Force Selection Board. <\/strong><\/p>\n Picture shows construction debris, including cement blocks, M-sand, metal sheets and iron rods dumped on the pothole, making it even more dangerous.<\/strong><\/p>\n Mysuru:<\/strong> Construction debris has been dumped along the Mysuru-Bannur Main Road near the Air Force Selection Board, adding to the hazards faced by motorists on an already badly damaged stretch.<\/p>\n The road had been damaged earlier. Instead of being repaired, the stretch has now been further worsened by the dumping of construction material. Cement blocks, M-sand, metal sheets and iron rods are lying along the roadside, posing a risk to motorists.<\/p>\n Two-wheeler riders have to be particularly cautious while negotiating the stretch, as the protruding metal sheets and iron rods could get caught in their vehicles or hit their legs, causing injuries. With thousands of vehicles using the road every day, the debris has also narrowed the available road space.<\/p>\n Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials denied that their workers had dumped the construction debris. Residents, however, told Star of Mysore that the pothole-ridden stretch had become treacherous, with accidents being reported.<\/p>\n According to residents, some of them and motorists approached a tipper driver last night and requested him to dump a small quantity of sand to level the uneven portion of the road. However, while unloading M-sand and other construction material, a large quantity of material fell from the tipper along with metal sheets and iron rods.<\/p>\n As traffic was heavy at the time, the tipper driver reportedly left the spot without clearing the material, leaving the debris scattered along the roadside.<\/p>\n The problem is particularly severe for two-wheeler riders travelling towards Siddarthanagar and Bannur. Forced to negotiate deep potholes and the dumped material, riders often have to swerve into the path of oncoming vehicles, increasing the risk of accidents.<\/p>\n The situation has been further worsened by gas pipeline and underground cable works near the Nazarbad-Ring Road junction.<\/p>\n Trenches dug for the works have been poorly covered at several places, allowing rainwater to accumulate and form large potholes.<\/p>\n Near the Male Mahadeshwara Temple, inadequate drainage has further damaged the road.
