We enjoyed the steak frites with truffle fries. They also serve breakfast!<\/li>\n<li><strong>DoG street pub<\/strong>\u2013 Gastropub that serves craft beers and British influenced comfort foods. We love the Fish &amp; Chips, Tikka Massala, and the Roasted Chicken. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Mellow Mushroom-<\/strong>\u00a0Pizzeria and craft beer, their pizzas are amazing!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kilwins chocolates and ice cream shop<\/strong>\u2013 for some caramel apples, homemade ice cream, and fudge.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Cheese Shop<\/strong>\u2013 Specialty Cheese shop, sandwiches, freshly baked breads, cheese plates and wine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Blackbird Bakery:<\/strong> assortment of breads, pastries, cookies and more including buttery croissants and giant oatmeal cookies!<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Bake Shop:<\/strong> Artisan Bakery &amp; Coffee Bar. This 45-minute tour is perfect for kids and costs $8 for all ages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>One thing not to miss when visiting with kids is the amazing <strong>maze at the Governors Palace gardens<\/strong>. it\u2019s such a fun activity for the whole family.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Don\u2019t forget to go on a <strong>nature walk along the Bassett Nature Trail<\/strong>. This 1.4-mile trail is adjacent to the Griffin Hotel and is a great place to explore nature and bird watching!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You can also explore Colonial Williamsburg on a <strong>horse-drawn carriage ride<\/strong> as a family. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><strong>Tickets cost $67<\/strong>, and can be purchased at the Visitors center, or the Lumber House Ticket office on the Duke of Gloucester street across from the Palace Green.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You receive a <strong>$15 dollar discount with your current admission ticket <\/strong>or annual pass. It was a great way to learn what life was like for the settlers at sea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><strong>Hours:\u00a0<\/strong>Open year-round 9am-5pm daily<\/li>\n<li>Tickets: $18 adults, $9 kids 6-12<\/li>\n<li><strong>A combination ticket<\/strong>\u00a0to Jamestown settlement, and American Revolutionary Museum Yorktown: $30.00 adults, $15.00 ages 6-12<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free museum admission to veterans<\/strong>, active duty, reserve,<strong> and retired military personnel and up to three direct family members <\/strong>with military ID on Yorktown Day, <strong>October 19<\/strong>; Veterans Day, <strong>November 11<\/strong>; Jamestown Day, <strong>May 13<\/strong>; and Memorial Day, <strong>May 30<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"historic-jamestowne\"><strong>Historic Jamestowne<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Historic Jamestowne is the actual site of the original James Fort, whereas the Jamestown settlement is the re-creation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It was amazing to actually walk through the original James Fort site and learn more about the history with the <strong>free guided tours.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Historic Jamestowne is still an <strong>active archeological site <\/strong>and kids will love to witness an ongoing excavation, which usually happens daily depending on the weather!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>For the summer 2023 season, Historic Jamestowne will host a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/historicjamestowne.org\/education\/for-kids-and-families\/kids-camp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Kid\u2019s Camp<\/a><\/span><\/strong> for kids ages 8-12 from 9am-2:30pm with two sessions to choose from: Session 1:\u00a0July 17-July 21, 2023-Session 2:\u00a0July 31-August 4, 2023. You must register for the camp and are on a first-come-first-serve basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><strong>Ticket prices:<\/strong> $25 Adults 16 &amp; older ($30 starting on July 1, 2022) <\/li>\n<li>Kids aged 15 &amp; younger get free\u00a0admission <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"explore-yorktown-virginia\"><strong>Explore Yorktown\u00a0Virginia<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Yorktown is most famous as the site of the\u00a0siege and subsequent surrender of General\u00a0Charles Cornwallis to General\u00a0George Washington and the\u00a0French Fleet during the\u00a0American Revolutionary War.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s hard to imagine that a battle was once fought here. Yorktown is such a charming little town, and there\u2019s so much to do and explore on your visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-background has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#f4f5f6\"><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/skylarariasadventures.com\/visit-yorktown-virginia\/\">Learn more about our visit to Yorktown Virginia here!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"visit-yorktown-beach\">Visit Yorktown Beach<\/h6>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>One of the best things to do in Yorktown with kids is a day at the beach. <strong>Yorktown Beach<\/strong> is perfect for families with its shallow and calm waters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>The lagoon-like beach is perfect for the little ones to wade in, plus there are restaurants and restrooms nearby. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"visit-the-yorktown-waterfront-and-battlefield\">Visit the Yorktown Waterfront and Battlefield <\/h6>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Make sure to <strong>explore the Yorktown Waterfront<\/strong> and find General Conwallis\u2019 Cave. This is where he supposedly hid during the siege of Yorktown. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You can also <strong>set sail on the York River aboard a Schooner <\/strong>located along the waterfront.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Yorktown Battlefield is located nearby as well. <strong>Pick up a Junior Ranger booklet<\/strong> for the kids at the Visitors Center and go on a driving tour of the battlefield. Once the kids complete the activities, they can receive a Junior Ranger badge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"visit-the-american-revolutionary-museum\">Visit the American Revolutionary museum<\/h6>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>For history buffs, a visit to the newly opened American Revolutionary museum should be on your itinerary when visiting Williamsburg.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>We loved exploring the outdoor living history museum and exploring the re-created Continental Army Encampment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>It was so interesting to learn what camp life was like for the soldiers back then. There are also <strong>daily demonstrations<\/strong> on medical treatments, cooking, flintlock musket firings and more. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>We also loved <strong>exploring the indoor galleries<\/strong>, immersive displays, artifacts, and films. It\u2019s such a kid friendly museum, with lots of <strong>fun interactive exhibits<\/strong> that the kids will definitely love.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li><strong>Hours:<\/strong> 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tickets: <\/strong>$16 adults, $8 kids, 5 and under FREE<\/li>\n<li><strong>Combination ticket<\/strong>\u00a0to Jamestown settlement, and American Revolutionary Museum Yorktown: $30.00 adults, $15.00 ages 6-12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"york-river-state-park\"><strong>York River State Park<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">If your looking to get out in nature, go for a hike or nature walk at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcr.virginia.gov\/state-parks\/york-river\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">York River State Park<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The park is known for its rare and delicate estuarine environment and is designated as a Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>There are <strong>more than 30 miles of trails<\/strong> for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. There is also a fishing pier, boat ramp, playgrounds, and picnic areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>You can even <strong>go in search of some fossils <\/strong>along Fossil beach.
