{"id":7060339,"date":"2026-09-18T19:36:44","date_gmt":"2026-09-18T19:36:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/alcohol\/exclusive-news-and-research-on-the-wine-spirits-and-beer-business-200\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T19:36:44","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T19:36:44","slug":"exclusive-news-and-research-on-the-wine-spirits-and-beer-business-200","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=7060339","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive news and research on the wine, spirits and beer business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<h2>Whisky Advocate: MGP Puts Its Name On The Bottle<\/h2>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"posted\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shankennewsdaily.com\/2026\/09\/18\/\" title=\"Click to see that day's daily archive\">September 18, 2026<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Behind many of the non-distilling spirits producers in the U.S.\u2014and even some that make their own whiskey\u2014lies a single name: MGP (Midwest Grain Products).<span id=\"more-40889\"\/> The Lawrenceburg, Indiana-based distillery, capable of producing millions of proof gallons per year (making it among the biggest distilleries in the U.S.), has sent its whiskeys to be bottled under countless brand names. Through it all, MGP has remained largely behind the scenes, cited on many labels only as \u201cDistilled in Indiana.\u201d Now, MGP has decided to release its own branded line of whiskeys, the very first to prominently feature \u201cMGP\u201d on the bottle.<\/p>\n<p>The first release, simply called \u201cMGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows,\u201d is a 10 year old Bourbon that clocks in at 55.5% abv. It\u2019s made from MGP\u2019s signature high-rye Bourbon mashbill: 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley (a recipe also used by Hirsch, James E. Pepper, and within the distillery\u2019s Ross &amp; Squibb lineup, among others).<\/p>\n<p>Every barrel of Out of the Shadows is aged in MGP\u2019s Rickhouse G, a brick warehouse built in 1936. MGP Chapter One is available now in limited quantities nationwide for $70. \u201cFor MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, we went into some of our exceptional barrels and made a whiskey that really represents what makes our distillery unique,\u201d said MGP master distiller Ian Stirsman.
